Introduction:

Plants require mineral nutrients for their proper growth and function. Deficiency of essential minerals can lead to stunted growth or death of the plant. Either way the yield decreases. Uptake of minerals from the soil is only possible whey they are present in soluble forms. Nutrients must be solubilized in water in order to be taken up by the roots.
