Concept explainers
Outside the United States speed is measured in Kilometers per hour (km/h) rather than miles per hour (mph). Although the exact conversion from km/h to mph is 0.57, a conversion factor of 0.6 is generally used because it is easier to remember. For the reverse conversion a factor of 1.7 is normally used. Perform the following conversions using the approximate conversion factors.
- What is the speed in mph of an automobile on the German Autobahn traveling at 160km/h?
- What is the speed in km/h of a motorcycle traveling at 70 mph in the United States?

- What is the effect of increasing k on time constant & error ? why?arrow_forwardThe theoretical maximum efficiency of wind turbines is limited by the velocity of air leaving the turbine preventing air from entering the turbine. TRUE OR FALSE?arrow_forwardi got 10 true/false questions. 1) As long as there is a flow of chemicals into a fuel cell, the electricity flows out of the cell. 2) Voltage of every solar cell increases 2.3mV per every °C over 25°C. 3) A primary cell, like an ordinary flashlight battery, cannot be recharged . 4) If slip of an induction motor is positive then the electric machine is running as a generator. 5) To make the direction of the current constant and the speed continuous, motor commutators change the direction of the current in every turn in a two pole DCM. 6) The current flowing through the stator or rotor coils creats the conductor losses 7) Discharge current of a battery is often expressed as D-rate 8) An AC Motor generates more power comparing with a DC motor that has the same weight. 9) A rechargable battery is a device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen or another oxidizing agent 10) Armature is the part between the pole pairs in a DC…arrow_forward
