Daoism, Confucianism, & Shintoism There are many religions that originated in Asia. These religions that we are focusing on include Daoism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. The religions of Daoism and Confucianism mainly originated in China, but like most religions, have now spread all throughout Asia to many different cultures. Shintoism on the other hand, originated in Japan and like the other two has also spread all throughout Asia. In this essay I will briefly discuss a few of the main points of each of these religions and ways of life.

The first religion I will talk about is Daoism. Daoism seems to go pretty hand in hand with Confucianism, both originating in China, but they obviously have a few differences too. Daoism worships The Dao. Just like many other religions, their main person they worship isn’t actually a specific person but more so of a spiritual figure of worship. Daoism is a more relaxed religion compared to Confucianism. The Daoist outlook is a very positive and accepting and joyful way of life. Daoism also focuses a lot on the unknown and the metaphysical parts of life. This is a big difference that distinguishes it from Confucianism, who does not value that as much. This religion is a study of the teachings of Confucius who was a widely known and popular Chinese philosopher. To me Confucianism seems less like a religion, than it does more a way of life. Confucianism has its own outlooks on basically everything, politically and spiritually. This is a pretty unique religion. One main thing that Confucianism values is family and respecting your elders. This is a common value found in a lot of religions but especially held high in this particular one. Overall, Confucianism to me sounds like a way of life and culture, more than it does a
