There are two major political aspects in our society today, liberals and conservatives. Both of these ideologies share a similar goal in which they both try to find solutions to the society’s issues. But the way liberals and conservatives perceive a problem and try to find solutions is what differentiates them both. Liberals tend to favor a change to promote growth, while conservatives on the other hand stick with traditions and religious values and are not in favor of a change. Although liberals and conservatives share a similar goal, they have opposing perspectives on social, economic and political issues. To begin with, economic issue is the most prominent topic that both liberals and conservatives have opposing views on. Liberals believe that a government should handle the economy in order for it to grow. Conversely, conservatives believe in the system of free market, where individuals decide the price, the products to produce, how to produce, and for whom to produce. The reason why conservatives believe that a government should not get involved in the economy is that, the government cannot determine all of the society’s needs, and because there is Yemane 2 more growth and flourishing in a free market system. As mentioned in the article Conservative Vs Liberals, “In their view, the free market system produces more economic growth, greater welfare and higher standards of living”( Squadrin 6). This quote shows that it is for the people to decide what to produce rather
The Classical Liberalist, would oppose any regulation on the economy. As they believe that those who are able to make money based on the principle of supply and demand already have helped the welfare of other in the process. Classical Liberalist’s understand inequality as an inevitable result of free competition, and actually see it as beneficial in the long run as capital is reinvested, to create new technology, employment and opportunities. If this capital were to be taxed heavily instead, many opportunities and jobs would be lost further adding to the inequality of wealth and opportunity for the poor.
The ideals and the composition of liberals and conservatives are radically different at times, and yet these same beliefs work together to make up the basic framework of American political thought. They both have the same goals for prosperity and yet they have polar opposite ways of achieving them. Ideologically, they are at odds with the size of government and the role that it plays. Some want big government that provides for people, while others elect for a small government that does not interfere with the lives of people. As is expected liberals tend to vote for certain issues that conservatives will disagree with and vice versa. Of course the issues are not random, each side will vote for and against particular kinds of issues.
Conservatives and Liberals are two different political parties that have similarities, and differences. According to the Student News Daily website, Liberals believe in government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. It is the duty of the government to get rid of social problems and to protect civil liberties, and individual and human rights. Conservatives believe “in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense.” Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve problems. Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems.
Many people have a strong belief in what side they take a part of, but some others may not be as informed, thus putting them in the middle of the two sides. A few of the topics that liberals and conservatives usually have different views on include abortion, affirmative action, death penalty, the economy, education, stem cell research, climate change, gun control, homeland security, healthcare, immigration, religion & government, same sex marriage, social security, taxes, and welfare. Although many college students do not have a full knowledge on many of these topics, they do have enough to form an opinion on them. Their opinions on these tops are usually what persuade them to fall under either the liberal or conservative category.
Conservatives are very supportive for individuals that are in the higher class, while liberals support the lower class individuals in society. Conservatives and Liberals have completely different views from one another. I personally favor liberalist views due to the fact they favor equality within our society. While conservatives feel as though within a society everyone should be responsible for themselves they don’t believe in aid to mankind. In our society we can achieve and do so much more if everyone as a whole worked together and cared about the individual next to them. The world that we live in today would but much stronger, there would be less poverty and more equality in the working class. Due
Conservative and Liberal ideology has been an ongoing battle within the United States ever since this country has been established. People who have different views and beliefs on how this country should be ran. I really never got into conservative and liberal battle that goes on in our country. I guess I was too busy saving peoples lives to worry about how this country should be ran. Then I started to think to myself why aren’t you caring and I said, I should start caring about what happens to my country because this my future and what will happen will play a huge part on my children futures as well. I asked myself a question what makes conservatives and liberals so passionate about their beliefs on healthcare reform, abortion etc. But ultimately the true question is which ideology will better serve the American people and help us become a great nation again. Liberals way of thinking and policies will make this country great again. I will be sharing with you all information and facts about conservatives and liberals. And I will share with you why its important for the United States to be like the liberalism ideology. But first I want to share with you some information about the conservative and liberal ideology.
Since 1856, the two major political parties in the United States have been the Republicans and Democrats. They have immersed themselves into US politics since the 19th century and have always dominated all secondary parties in America, resulting in formation of the America’s two-party political system. The Democrats and Republicans may have different ideologies on a plethora of issues but their core beliefs are forever intertwined. The Republicans’ core belief is that they “believe that each person is responsible for his or her own place in society. Government should enable each person the ability to secure the benefits of society for themselves, their families and for those who are unable to care for themselves.” The Democrats’ core belief
I would like to start by saying that I consider it to be a tragedy that this assignment is necessary. I can not believe that so many people in our class do not know the liberal and conservative views on some of the most basic topics. I by no means think that everyone should believe all of the things that I do, but at the very least they do need to know what both parties have to offer. They have obviously been voting solely on party lines and chose their side based on what their parents, people in their community, etc told them. They have in no way made any kind of informed decisions over the last 20 years of voting. I do however commend you for trying to get people to care more about these very basic but
Although counterintuitive to today’s modern political arena, the Conservative vs progressive fight for dominance of the cultural hegemony enforced onto the citizens have swapped on the ideals supported. Historically the Conservative party was thought to be more progressive in regards to individual rights and the rejection of the power of the central state, whereas the parties that identified with the progressive movement were more idealistic and desired a stronger central state to help bring along a more egalitarian future. Conservative ideals involved wanting to promote the idea of the “common good”, respect for tradition, and often coinciding with Republicanism ideals.
In this case, it is the responsibility of the government to eliminate social problems, protect human rights and improve the lifestyles of the citizens. Most importantly, liberal ideas focus purely on the role of government to improve lives of citizens. Conservatives emphasize the need to empower people to achieve their goals. In this case, the government is supposed to provide an enabling environment to promote personal development. Characteristics of Conservative system of governance are free markets, individual liberty, personal responsibility and traditional American values (Dye & MacManus, 2015).

In the middle is the moderates they take both sides of the political spectrum and combine them for a moderate views
On the issue of the economy, conservatives generally favor the free market system and competitive capitalism. They believe that free markets produce economic growth and more jobs than those where the government is regulating the economy. Liberals, on the other hand, believe that the government should protect the people against big businesses, and that a market system where the government regulates the economy is best. Typically, they believe the government is needed to level the playing field.
The liberal perspective on political economy is embodied in the discipline of the Western economics (Gilpin, 1987). It emphasizes the individual interests, the freedom and the maximization of economic benefit. Economic
In America, there are three major civic stances: conservatism, liberalism, and libertarianism. The liberal stance is the only stance, which offers the foundation to move forward. The following paper will briefly explain, certain aspects of conservatism and libertarianism, and will advance the idea, America must move forward with a more liberal attitude. At heart, this writing will argue a strong government is of the utmost importance in moving this country forward to the future. While other political agendas advocate liberty and freedom, the liberal stance truly offers a realistic approach and method of achieving those aspects of American life.
The American Political Spectrum is a system used to classify the different political and social viewpoints of the American People. The system is places one on a horizontal spectrum depending on their beliefs; if one is a liberal they go on the left area of the line and if one is a conservative they go on the right area of the line- the greater they are of those two categories the farther down they go on the line. The terms “liberal” and “conservative” are derived from the ideologies of Liberalism and Conservatism, respectively, which differ greatly.
