Over the past decade, there have been numerous strides in technological fields and a growing need to integrate technology into our daily lives. Larger organizations like corporations and universities continually search for new technology to upgrade their infrastructure and computers. In universities, nearly every student has at least one internet connected device. This, and other hardware needs such as servers for storing grades and documents, cause universities to spend over $6.94 billion on hardware and software, not including salaries.[2] More recently, lectures and labs are trying to migrate notes and work onto the web. This causes the computer to be used as a middle man and not as a utility to help complete assignments. Also, these sites that students are required to check are fragments and often have poor design. It is common to have a different site to check for each class and often those sites have clunky designs and poorly coded, leading to more difficulty for students. These problems with websites and incomplete usage of the curriculum lead to added frustration to both students and teachers. When any person encounters a new tool, they are often taken aback and require instruction on how to operate it. The came applies to professors and students trying to fully utilize the power of technology. Part of the reason that the actual implementation of technology is that professors lack the knowledge and operational skill for the computer or online site. Universities have known this for a while and hence the implementation of the OIT (Office of Information Technology), but as with many resources it is not required. Professors and students have the ability seek help, but rarely do because they assume that they can figure out the system. Much of the confusion can arise out of poor design of the interface of websites and programs.[1] Sites are often clunky and not updated frequently, links and tools most required are sometimes hidden behind a tedious process of clicking and searching for the
