Week four five and six, I have enabled a substantial learning opportunity for the students in SUD 425. Being the 3 weeks in the middle of the quarter we have already gained the primary introductory knowledge of the course, and this can be considered the core of the class which utilized many learning styles to optimize each students learning experience. During week four the class focused on the world of the planner and how a planner can take different equity oriented roles or approaches. With the online assignment and reading I was able to discover the benefits and disadvantages being a planner has. One of the benefits planners have is access to more information and data than most people in their agency and more importantly the knowledge …show more content…
They must sift through the data to discover what is best for the community and if what they want is a plausible action for the agency. Another downside I have seen with planners at my work is that if any issue occurs with a project they oversaw, they are immediately placed in blame and looked to for an explanation. The assignment we did online asked us to choose one of the five equity oriented planning roles to address one of the social justice issues that matters to us personally. As a planner I would undertake the role of Strengthening Neighborhood-Based Community Development Corporations to address the decline in neighborhoods. This role supports local nonprofits and community organizations that "promote housing, commercial development, and neighborhood revitalization in lower-class, inner-city neighborhoods” (Carmon). This role helps speak for those who usually are not represented and fight capital improvement projects to downtown areas and focus on the community members who are in neighborhoods. These corporations can do what the city sometimes cannot in helping create affordable housing and revamping …show more content…
This topic I became very interested in after learning more about it with the homework and reading we did. I learned that the Network Society is a social group created through the medium of "online" or other relations that are not made face to face. Network Society can have vast impacts on the economy and political and cultural influences. Unlike in person communication to where you are limited by space and chance of seeing the right person, there are no special limitations on the network. The digital divide, although shrinking in many areas, is still an important issue that separates the world. With the increased reliance on the internet, people without access to it fall behind socially and possibly economically. The digital divide is eased with public digital infrastructure such as free computer usage at Libraries but it can still put certain populations at a severe disadvantage than those with internet access. With digital text books, online quizzes and online grades via canvas, it would be quite impossible to attend this college without adequate access to technology, which some still do not have. Technology has developed into a near necessity for many people in America and especially for every student enrolled in the University of Washington Tacoma. Another part of this Network Society is the governments integration into the society and their attempt to stay more relevant with the times
Inequality and mistreatment is prevalent in the world today. However, today the world is much closer to solving its issues as opposed to 100 years ago. Planners are a significant part of that fight, standing up for what they believe is right and implementing the proper plans and action needed to begin to solve that issue.
After reviewing the discussion of genre in Chapter 8 of Film: From Watching to Seeing, demonstrate your understanding of one selected genre using a feature-length film.
I registered to take SEPS 405 summer 2015, but I had to drop it. I was having problems with finding a intern. job. My assigned director was Sharon Davis due to a glitch in the system but it should have been you. Sharon would have taken 195 hours and I would have to work 15 hours a week until the semester was over. Would this still be okay? I wanted to know, so I can present this to possible jobs. I will be registering to take it summer 2016. Hopefully you are still the correct person to speak with in regards to this matter. If not, can you please point me in the right direction.
I narrowed search to include articles that have been peer reviewed and published between 2005 and 2015
I selected the Louisville Cardinals’ to discus this week for my week two assignment. This was Louisville’s fourth conference change since 1996.Louisville join the Conference U.S.A that year and was not welcome by its other conference colleagues, because the men’s basketball team was on probation by the NCAA. The Louisville program was also apart of a 60 minutes investigation, their home football games were being played in a minor league baseball stadium and their school has some serious Title IX issues according to Murphy, B (2014, July 1). Despite all of the surrounding issues Louisville went on to become successful on the field and basketball courts, they join the Big East conference and made their brand very attractive.
We had a good meeting this week. The end of this term is approaching. You have completed most of final assignments and are ready to prepare for your final exams. These next two weeks look less busy. So, I would like to encourage you to use this time to work on your portfolio and resume and get ready to apply for jobs. Dr. Tan has some information about jobs tat you can apply for. Meet with her to have this information on hand.
Cathy, i know very little about last year's doings of the board but I can answer some questions. The way we do minutes now is I make draft and send to members. I think all homeowners should be able to see the DRAFT and submit changes, especially if information personally involves a homeowner. Then if changes I do that. We ok minutes by email. Then send out when in agreement. That way minutes are not a month behind. If you include a message along with the DRAFT that any changes need to be submitted at least a week prior to the next Board Meeting, the Minutes wouldn't be a month behind. Just include a sentence in the current month's Minutes that last month's Minutes were corrected as noted; and then remove the DRAFT watermark before saving it.
Generally, workers’ compensation cases for medical providers settle around 50-70% of the billed amount. This obviously depends on the items billed, modifiers used, and other specifics in the case.
Write a 4-5 page paper in which you create a plan for a low-cost automated inventory system in which
This is my assignment one for the class CHE 352 at Arizona State University. The course instructors are Dr. Burrows and Dr. Wen. The assignment is due Friday, January 27th, 2017. There is no progress to date, as this is the first assignment out of three that will be conducting during the course. The three assignments during the course will help me learn the content that is covered in the course.
This report will examine how changes in technology are affected by society, in turn, how the society that produced this technology is impacted by this creation. The paper will specifically address the impact of personal computers, cell phones, and the internet on society, and how these technological advancements relate to the three major sociological perspectives; equilibrium model, digital divide, and cultural lag.
Since its introduction on a public scale in the 1990s, the internet has been associated with many changes in social experience. Many aspects of social life such as education, work, commerce and even personal relationships have changed through the internet. However, researchers have found that, at least in the early years, access to the internet is shaped according to gender, class, ethnicity and education. During the 1990s the typical information technology user was a white, male, professional with a background in IT. This bias in internet access was named the ‘digital divide’ to point out the implied social inequalities. It was said that the internet was
In his article, The Mediatisation of Society Theory, Hjarvard (2008) deduces that media simultaneously become an integrated part of society, not to mention the existence of new media like the Internet. In fact, this integration of Internet into our daily life has made us live in the digital age where information is shared in real time and in global context. Castells (2007) even argues that in this digital age, people are able to expand their local communication activities to

The fact is the world is trying to move past the restraints that create inefficient business and communication. Information technology provides a means to move beyond the slow and financially consumptive methods of doing business. The network society is the framework in which these practices can be implemented. As time goes by, technology is becoming more and more a fundamental component of living in this world. Unless a given society, community or business stays on the forefront of technological innovation, it will be left behind, only to grow further and
