As the information system is designed, implementation decisions describing how the system will work are made. Data flow diagrams offer those implementation details, including data stores that refer to files and database tables, programs and human actions that perform processes. The automated parts of the system are differentiated from the manual parts by the human-machine boundary (Dennis, Wixom,

point of sale system. The POS system is a perpetual inventory counting method that electronically records items immediately upon their point of sale (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). In other words, as a cashier scans a customer 's groceries, each scanned item is automatically recorded in the system and deducted from the store’s inventory. Implementing a point of sale would benefit a business’s inventory management function in several ways. First, the POS system will provide managers with a continuous flow of updated information (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 552). As a result, the information will provide more accuracy when used for sales forecasts and analysis, which substantially affect inventory decisions. Continuously, this inventory system would also allow greater flexibility in the sense that it can be wirelessly linked to the main company’s inventory system, creating a network of the company’s inventory systems. The POS system is capable of tracking many operations at once and can be modified according to management’s needs (MacCarthy, n.d.). This flexibility would undoubtedly benefit a large company like Wegman’s with many store locations. Lastly, the system is able to help businesses maintain a high level of customer service. Because the system gives customers a receipt with the price and quantity of each item purchased, the customer is able to see exactly what he or she purchased. This practice
I have taken it upon myself to test two inventory management systems and have found a system that will yield the least cost to Parts Emporium Inc. The two systems I have tested are the Continuous Inventory System and the Periodic Inventory System. Using data that I have gathered from the products DB032 and the EG151, I have compiled calculations and have concluded a continuous inventory system would be best for our corporation. Attached you will find said calculations; I would like to take this moment and present the continuous inventory system and recognize all of the relevant costs. The following is an explanation of each calculation under the continuous inventory system:
When offers of reduced pricing are accepted for equipment, meeting delivery expectations becomes an important part of enhancing the customer experience to maintain satisfied loyal customers. An inventory specialist in the current distribution center would be given the additional task of segregating and maintaining inventory levels to meet the needs of the customer loyalty department.

In today's highly competitive book marketplace, it is essential that an organization is responsive to changes and shifts in demand. For a small retailer, being able to give the customer what he or she wants when the item is needed is essential, given the ease which customers can simply go online and order the item (and price shop). Sound inventory control systems are a must, and that means using automation. "Inventory control is important to ensure quality control in businesses that handle transactions revolving around consumer goods. Without proper inventory control, [even] a large retail store may run out of stock on an important item" (Inventory control system, 2013, Barcodes). Good inventory control promotes efficiency and accuracy as well: "a good inventory control system will alert the retailer when it is time to reorder" (Inventory control system, 2013, Barcodes). It is also less prone to error than manual counting, better enabling the retailer to keep track of large shipments.
