According to the fiscal year 2002 military pay scale the average enlisted service member with two years of service in the military is paid $1,385.40 per month (www.DFAS.mil). Broken down this figure is equal to roughly $8.65 per hour. With the rate of taxes being higher on single personnel and the fact that some service members have families, $8.65 is far below the priceless

Many people would likely disagree that service members should be better compensated. Some have voiced the concern because it is a volunteer military that the benefits of free medical and dental benefits, tuition assistance programs, free travel and free meals and housing for service members is all the benefit necessary for serving. Military medical personnel are among the best in their fields. With ever major medical specialty available military service members have access to some of the most comparable health care facilities in the country including the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and the much-acclaimed Walter Reed Army Medical Center located in Silver Spring, MD. Service members have the opportunity to travel for free to places many people dream of ever being able to see. The GI Bill provides a financial support for service members to achieve the post secondary educations and while serving on active duty personnel can take college courses at little or no cost to them. In short many of today's private-sector companies can hardly compare what the offer the employees what the government offers those serving.

Serving for the military is a great opportunity that has been taken away from Transgenders, that deserve that opportunity, and here’s three reasons that Transgenders should be able to serve. Three reasons why Transgenders should stay in the military are they shouldn’t be kicked out and deployed out of the military despise their gender. The military will lose approximately 15,000 active troops that were doing an amazing job at serving our country. Finally, because the Donald Trump claims that the medical cost is too much, but training and getting troops up to readiness standards will cost more money.
Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality when it comes to most aspects of one’s life: family functions, meetings, interviews, and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late once or twice in one’s life is unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people’s time and obligations. Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can’t. People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they took the time to consider others.
Serving the United States Military comes with many responsibilities as well as pressure and accountability. However, the military isn’t for everyone, but it offers so much for those who serve. One thing that must be known and dealt with is that this career could be a life threatening one, and there are many obstacles one must go through beforehand.
Every day, there are American citizens who risk their lives for the sake of their country's safety. Men and women who believe that justice, peace, and equality should be served. However, within their beliefs, some choose to exclude transgender individuals who have the same rights and freedoms. The American society considers the world to be progressively changing and growing, however, seem to forget that in order for the military to survive the 21st century, diversity is crucial. Although the medical costs may raise the overall healthcare median per year, transgender individuals should have the right to serve in the U.S. armed forces because any human being who meets the physical qualifications and has a willing attitude should have the right to serve.
The most hardworking people are usually the least recognized. They are generally the least paid as well. There must be some sort of incentive for them to continually work so hard. The United States Army has been the underdogs of the military branch. The United States Army is probably the hardest working branch of the military, but also the least sought after. To the general public they are not considered to be at the top of the spectrum amongst the other branches of military. The government has helped in creating a bias within the branches of military by making the standards to get into the military so low compared to some of the other branches. The Army should be considered the “People’s Army.”

The United States draft, also called conscription, was first used during the Civil War but later used in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Napoleon was the first general to use the modern draft. In 1940 FDR signed the Training Service Act of 1940 starting the first formal draft in the United States, but in 1973 congress decided to have an all-volunteer military. President Carter decided to resume the draft in 1980 due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Today the draft is not used but the US still requires its 18-year-old

A release from The Bureau of Labor Statistics stated around 453,000 veterans were unemployed in 2016, and a report by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development said around 40,000 veterans were homeless every night (Henry, Watt, Rosenthal, & Shivji, 2016; 2017). The Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, also known as the GI Bill, was created to support returning World War II veterans through education, housing support, and unemployment compensation. It has undergone many changes from the original to the post 9/11 GI bill to the current Henry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017, also known as the Forever GI Bill. The Forever GI Bill has expanded eligibility for benefits so more veterans can access them
Many people are concerned about the U.S. military because of how many risks come with joining it. However, the U.S. military also explains the benefits that one could receive. Joining the military is a decision that should not be taken lightly. One must understand all aspects of the military. In order for a voter to be fully informed about joining the US military, one must consider both the risks, like mental illnesses and commitment and benefits, like education, and experience.
Likewise militarism is along the same lines of racism. In America, men are known to be the “stronger” sex. Most of the time men are known to run things such as the house, military, and to have the higher paying job. “In 2016, women working full time in the United States typically were paid just 80 percent of what men were paid. In 2016 the pay gap was smaller in New York, where women working full time, year-round were paid 89 percent of what men were paid. The largest gap was in Louisiana, where women were paid 70 percent of what men were paid.” (Miller). Pay gaps doesn 't only differ between men and women, but with race.” Asian women’s salaries show the smallest gender pay gap, at 87 percent of white men’s earnings. The gap was largest for Hispanic women, who were paid only 54 percent of what white men were paid in 2016” (Miller). Unfortunately this isn 't the only type of racism in the US. On October 10, 2017, “School Officials say a Christian youth group called Young Life was hosting a country themed event for kids when a few students went outside and posed and took pictures with the Confederate flag.” (Brown). In most cases, you see things such as this in most southern states.
Some of the implications that the issues from the article have in our society, community, family and workplaces will be discussed. The introduction of the G.I. Bill opened a lot of doors for service members, and it is a well-deserved incentive for those serving their Country, as many are young when they enter the military and it seems that the United States we have been in various wars or conflict. As a society and a community, we should offer incentives to individuals who are willing to serve their country and fight for our freedom. There are several places of employment that offer incentives for all veterans, to include disable veterans and war veterans at times giving them an edge for the position. Military duties, responsibilities and integrity is important to the Army. An NCO duties includes taking care of his or her Soldiers and accomplishing the mission. A Soldier’s duty includes obeying orders. Duty and Responsibility is part of the Army values for a reason. I’m accordance with Army regulation Field Manual 7-22.7 covers the duties,responsibilities and authorities of a Non Commissioned Officer.
“Everyone knows the dangers of being in the military. Many military members put their lives on the line every day, which makes them some of the most underpaid people in America. But there are also other considerations, such as working with hazardous materials and in dangerous situations, being on call 24-7/365, and dealing with long term deployments and family separation”(Guina). I will write about why Military members are not getting paid enough, but not all I will be focusing on military members who are single with no dependents and are part of deployable units and I will be comparing them to their civilian counterparts who are in college.
In the United States, soldiers are currently returning home from war broken and scarred. While some physical wounds are clearly visible others are often hidden/invisible to the naked eye, but men and women proudly wear these wounds as a badge of courage and honor for protecting our nation. These men and women come home rightfully expecting help, assistance and care and get hit with the reality of poor care from the Veteran Health Administration and Department of Defense.
