CP A test rocket starting from rest at point A is launched by accelerating it along a 200.0-m incline at 1.90 m/s2 (Fig. F3.43). The incline rises at 35.0C above the horizontal, and at the instant the rocket leaves it, the engines turn off and the rocket is subject to gravity only (ignore air resistance). Find (a) the maximum height above the ground that the rocket reaches, and (b) the rocket’s greatest horizontal range beyond point A.

- A rock is thrown off a vertical cliff at an angle of 44.5o above horizontal. The cliff is 75.7 m high and the ground extends horizontally from the base. The initial speed of the rock is 18.4 m/s. Neglect air resistance. E: How high above the ground, in meters, is the rock 2.42 s before it hits the ground? F: How far horizontally from the cliff, in meters, is the rock 2.42 s before it hits the ground?arrow_forwardFigure P3.63 4. A grasshopper leaps Figure P3.63 into the air from the edge of a vertical cliff, as shown in Fig. P3.63. A rock is thrown off a cliff at an angle of 44 with respect to the horizontal. The cliff is 126 m high. The initial speed of the rock is 22 m/s. I have that the change in y above the cliff is 11.92. I am having trouble finding how far has it moved horizontally when it is at maximum altitude? and the I can't find the total time of fight. I'm not sure the formula for the range either. - You throw a ball from the balcony onto the court in the basketball arena. You release the ball at a height of 8.00 m above the court, with a initial velocity equal to 8.70 m/s at 35.0∘ above the horizontal. A friend of yours, standing on the court 11.0 m from the point directly beneath you, waits for a period of time after you release the ball and then begins to move directly away from you at an acceleration of 1.60 m/s2. (She can only do this for a short period of time!) If you throw the ball in a line with her, how much time ? wait after you release the ball should she wait to start running directly away from you so that she’ll catch the ball exactly 1.00 m above the floor of the court? t-wait=arrow_forwardA disappointed Romeo throws a pebble, with a speed of 16.3 m/s, horizontally from a balcony. It falls 4.14 s before hitting the ground below. Neglect air resistance. a) How high is the balcony from the ground below,b) how far does the pebble travel before striking the ground, and c) at what speed and angle does the pebble hit the ground?arrow_forwardOn a hot summer day, a young girl swings on a rope above the local swimming hole (Figure 1). Juliet tosses a box of candy straight up with speed 7.50 m/s from a height of 1.53 m above the ground. Ignore any effects due to air resistance. To receive full marks, you must include a diagram showing the physical situation and your choice of coordinate system. (a) Will the box reach Romeo?
