Two thermodynamic quantities are a number and a sign.
Explanation of Solution
There are two parts of thermodynamic quantities:
- A number, which gives magnitude of charge
- A sign, which indicates the direction of flow. The reflection of system’s point of view is by the sign.
For example, on flowing of a quantity of energy into the system, q is + x . The indication of increase of system’s energy is by the positive sign. On the other hand, the flowing out of energy from the system is represented by q is equal to − x . The indication of decrease of energy of system is by the negative sign.
Sign, which is one of the thermodynamic quantities, reflected the system’s point of view.
