Concept explainers
The effect when a wave passes from one medium into another.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Refraction is a phenomena in which the light waves bend when they pass from one medium to another.
When the wave passes from one medium to another the phenomena is called refraction. In refraction the wave bends toward normal if the second medium is having higher refractive index than the first medium.
If the refractive index of first medium is greater than the refractive index of second medium then the wave will travel away from normal.
Conclusion:
Thus, refraction can occur when a wave passes from one medium into another.
