Chapter 5.5, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction

To analyse:

Numbering of carbons and identification and marking of nitrogenous bases, and phosphate, of top three nucleotides.

Introduction:

Nucleotides are the monomers of nucleic acid. Each nucleotide is composed of 3 major parts: a five-carbon sugar, a nitrogenous base, and a phosphate group. DNA has 4 nitrogenous bases, adenine and guanine are purines and cytosine and thymine are pyrimidines. RNA also has the same nitrogenous bases but instead of thymine RNA has uracil. DNA has deoxyribose sugar, while RNA has ribose sugar.
