Introduction:

Meiosis is a kind of division in which reduction in a number of chromosomes occurs due to the nondisjunction of the chromatids during anaphase I of meiosis I. The event of crossing over is an important aspect of this division where the chromosome fragment is exchanged between the nonsister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. Meiosis mainly occurs in germ cells of the organisms so as to produce the gametes for sexual reproduction.
