Explanation of Solution

Bone cells enable the growth of the bone, repair itself, and able to change the shape of the bone. It also continuously synthesizes the new bone tissue in the body and reabsorbs the old bone tissues. Bone has three types of cells. They are as follows:

  1. 1. Osteoblasts
  2. 2. Osteoclasts
  3. 3. Osteocytes
Name of the bones Functions
Osteoblasts Proteoglycans and collagen synthesis, mineralization of osteoid matrix, production of osteoprotegerin and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL)
Osteoclasts Bone resorption and bone homeostasis
Osteocytes It transforms osteoblasts that are trapped in osteoid, maintenance of bone matrix, production of sclerostin that inhibits bone growth.
