Chapter 29.2, Problem 2SB
Summary Introduction

To review:

The distinguishing features of Cycads, Ginkgos, and Gnetophytes.

Introduction:

Gymnosperms are a group of plants containing seeds, called spermatophytes. They are divided into six phyla. Organisms that belong to the Cycadophyta, Ginkgophyta, Gnetophyta, and Pinophyta (also known as Coniferophyta) phyla are still in existence, while those in the Pteridospermales and Cordaitales phyla are now extinct. Their roots show fungal association with mycorrhiza and cyanobacteria, which helps in fixing atmospheric nitrogen for plants.
