Glycolysis is a basic pathway from which body gets its energy by breaking monosaccharide's. Glycolysis coverts six carbon sugar glucose into two molecules of 3 carbon compound pyruvate with a net gain of 2 ATPs. Glycolysis also produces coenzymes like nicotine amide dinucleotide to produce energy in electron transport chain.
