Chapter 22.3, Problem 1MC
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The name of cell layer in a stem of
Concept introduction:
In a seed, food is stored in thick, fleshy leaves called cotyledons. On the basis of cotyledons trees are of two types called monocotyledonous and the dicotyledonous plants. Monocotyledonous plants are those plants that have one cotyledon in their seeds like mango, lemons and many others. Dicotyledonous plants are those plants that have two cotyledons in their seeds like pea plant, groundnut plant and many others.

Name the cell layers in the stem of a monocot and a eudicot, moving from the epidermis to the innermost tissues.
Sketch observations of monocot stem cross section and the dicot stem cross section. Label the epidermis, phloem, xylem, cortex, and pith or ground tissue
What part of the plant is where the above tissue is collected? What is the pointed structure? What structures protect? what is the name and function of the innermost, light colored column above the pointer.
