The formula and name of the binary compound are to be determined.
Concept introduction:
Binary compounds are chemical compounds comprising of two distinct elements and an element is a substance that cannot be further divided into any simpler substances using chemical methods.
The naming of a binary compound starts with the name of the first element (cation)followed by the name of the second element (anion) with suffix‘-ide’in the end of second element’s name.
In the naming of binary compounds, prefixes are used to represent the number of atoms in the element. For example, the prefix for two is di, three is tri.
