Hardy-Weinberg Equation.

  p² + 2pq + q² = 1.

Where,

p2  depicts the frequency for homozygous genotype VV.

q2 depicts the frequency for homozygous genotype vv.

2pq depicts the frequency for heterozygous genotype Vv.

For a population in genetic equilibrium:

  p + q = 1 p = 0.8 q = 0.2.

  Total number of population = 500.

Therefore, the total number of homozygous dominant.

  p2= 0.8 × 0.8= 0.64.

  Total number of VV population = 0.65 × 500 = 320.

Total number of homozygous recessive is.

  q2 = 0.2 × 0.2     = 0.040.

  Total number of vv population=0.04 ×500=20.

  Total number of heterozygous dominantSubstitute 0.8 for p and 0.2 for q2pq = 2 × 0.8 × 0.2       = 0.32Total number of heterozygous dominant (Vv)      = 0.32 × 500      = 160.

Hence, the expected total number of the violet flower is.

  320(VV) +160(Vv)= 480.

The expected total number of white flower ( vv) is.

  500number of violet flowers= 500480          = 20.

Thus, the total number of the violet flower is 480 and a total number of white flower is 20.
