Introduction:
As the name suggests, a diverging lens is the one which diverges all the rays falling on it after refraction, while a converging lens is the one which converges all the rays falling on it to a point after refraction.
It is known that a concave lens diverges all the parallel rays falling on it after refraction while the convex lens converges all the parallel rays falling on it from infinity to a point termed as focus, after refracting them.

Hence, after comparing the above definitions, it can be seen that a converging lens term is referred for convex lens while a diverging lens term is referred for a concave lens.
