Chapter 14.3, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction

To analyze:

Similarities and difference between the cytokinesis of the plant and animal cells.

Introduction:

The cell division has two phases, they are karyokinesis and cytokinesis. The karyokinesis is the process of division of nuclear components and the genetic material. The cytokinesis is the division that occurs after karyokinesis. In this stage, the cytoplasm of the cell is divided into two different cells.

Students have asked these similar questions
Cytokinesis in plant cells is different than cytokinesis in animal cells. a)  Explain why it has to be different, andb)  briefly describe the processes in the two different cell types.
Which of the following are stages in the cytokinesis of animal cells? Select all that apply. A) The cell plate expands along the plane of division, and when the plate fuses with the plasma membrane, the cytoplasm is partitioned into two new cells. B) After telophase, the contractile ring constricts the plasma membrane and forms a cleavage furrow. C) The contractile ring reaches its smallest diameter, and the spindle microtubules are cut as vesicles form the new membranes that separate the two new cells. D) A contractile ring of microfilaments and motor proteins forms under the plasma membrane during anaphase.Assessment question
