Chapter 11.5, Problem 1TQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The differences between the fate of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and HSV (herpes simplex virus) chromosome inside a host cell.
Introduction:
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a RNA (ribonucleic acid) virus whereas HSV (herpes simplex virus) contains DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) as their genome. Both these viruses can enter a latent state inside the host cell. The HSV infects the genital and oral mucosa whereas HIV infect the T (thymic)-helper cells that play an important role in the immune system.
