Effective communication means the type of communication that is quickly and easily understood. When working within a school environment, you are constantly communicating with the children you work with, and also everybody around you. This may be the staff you work with, the parents or carers of the children in your school or other adults who may have come into the school. The benefits of effective communication is multi-faced and can affect children's lives in very positive ways.

Being effective consist of having the child follow a desired behavior. This—in a way— is the parent convincing the child to perform a certain task or say something in a particular way. In the short-term, the parent is effective if they are able to inhibit or promote a child’s desired behavior for the time being or for a certain event; whereas, in the long term the parent can accustom the child to a certain task they do all the time.

I believe there are many skills and attributes that are necessary to an outstanding teacher; one’s ability to keep students engaged, the desire to see all students achieve, and knowledge of the content taught are attributes of an outstanding educator.

Educational research contributes many factors to effective teaching and the effective teacher. Beliefs and values that guide the research change by the decade, however, most of the research agrees that the highest impact on achievement is the teacher. My personal belief is that teaching is not just the profession of spitting out information to students that they in turn regurgitate to me. I think that teaching is a process of life learning for these students. I believe there are four extremely important factors that distinguish a well-disciplined class from others. They include the following factors: classroom environment, expectations and procedures, student-teacher relationships, and active learning.

According to Lezotte, “an effective school is one that is achieving high and equitable levels of student learning. All children will learn essential knowledge, concepts, and skills needed to be successful at the next level of schooling.” These correlates include: Clear School Mission, High Expectations for Success, Instructional Leadership, Frequent Monitoring of Student Progress, Opportunity to Learn and Time on Task, Safe and Orderly Environment, and Home/School Relationships. These are the skills that differentiate a good school from an effective school.

In the practice of teaching, it is the responsibility of a teacher not only to teach students subject matter, but to teach students in order to enable them to grow and develop as a person. One of the most important aspects of teaching is being able to effectively instruct students in the classroom. Effective instruction to me is being able to help students get to the end goal while giving feedback and assessment along the way, which will deepen their overall understanding of the content being taught. To do these things, it is crucial to meet student’s current needs and help them see that it is okay to struggle! When teachers can understand, and correct their mistakes and weaknesses, they are then more able to help students go down the right path. My measurements of success are found in each and every student I teach. One of the most rewarding experiences I have had while student teaching, was watching a child’s face light up at the pivotal moment when they grasp a new concept or master a new skill. In fact, those “aha” moments are my motivators which feed my desire to look for better ways to ensure all students experience those same “aha” moments. As an effective teacher, I am determined and dedicatef to the continual process of researching, implementing, collecting and analyzing data to ensure I am improving upon the curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment used in my classroom. Learning is a never-ending process. The better skilled I become as a teacher, the better the learning experience I can provide for my students. Therefore, the more I actively research, implement, and reflect, the greater the opportunity for giving my students the education they deserve and hopefully, the inspiration to pursue their own lifelong love of learning.
