I have listened to and watched all segments and clicked on and watched and listened to all items in this module. Initial here: ______
1. After page 1 of the module: Based on your teaching experience thus far, what is a challenge educators have when working with children? In 2- sentences, provide specific examples to support your answer.
Children tend to focus their attention on areas of the classroom they like and tend to only visit those areas creating a traffic jam. Students then get frustrated when they cannot be at the center they want, this tends to happen a lot with a child that has autism at my clinical location.
2. After page 2 of the module: What concept should teachers apply when setting up their classroom to meet the needs of all children? In 2-3 sentences, provide specific examples to support what this might look like?
All activities should have the ability to be altered to cater to the needs of the students. We have a cutting activity and the classroom has scissors that allow for easy cutting without finger holes, this can help children that lack developed fine motor skills. Therefore everyone can participate in a cutting exercise; all activities should be set up like this.
3. After page 3 of the module: In at least 1-2 sentences for each question( total of 4 sentences)
How do you promote play with children for disabilities?
It important to always have activities that are developmentally appropriate or can be altered to be appropriate for the child
Every child is an individual – with different needs depending on their age and abilities. You must think about this when planning activities.
Write a concise summary (approximately 1’200 words) to demonstrate your understanding of your role and responsibilities as a teacher in relation to:
It is important to remember that each area of learning and development does not work in isolation but they are all in fact interlinked. Good quality activities will cover more than one area of development. For example, allowing children to access the outdoors will not only support their physical development, but encourage their communication and exploration of their environment. Where a child experiences a delay in one area, it is likely to limit their learning and development in the other five...a child with cerebral palsy who experiences hand-eye coordination difficulties is likely to find completing a puzzle difficult therefore hindering
It is important to make the best possible use of space and equipment so the children can enjoy the activities. All children will have equal opportunities to develop movement skills and the environment will be changed to help children practise the mivements skills. When planning physical activity we ensure that no child is excluded from play and activities are modified as necessary.
The Nursery set out many different activities for the Children. This is designed for them for the different areas that they develop within the Nursery. They are set to reach all the areas of learning, Personal social and emotional development, communication language and literacy development, problem solving reasoning and numeracy, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development and creative development. With all these different resources the Children begin to recognize their skills and how to use them. For an example, in the toddler room the creative area always has something out, the toddlers can then sit at the table, start to do mark making on the paper and realize they are drawing on paper. They created a picture!
We also need to ensure that every child has opportunities to develop and thrive, which are as good as those experienced by others. We can provide activities
How does instructional time improve through the teaching of transition expectations in a first grade classroom?
How would major legislation related to education impact your classroom practice? Provide specific examples thereof using legislation described in the module 5 lecture notes.
I believe that children should participate in organized activities that they show interest in. Imagitive and creative play is important as well but if you pick the right activities your child can learn to be creative and more imagitive by just participating. If a kid wants to be good at something hes going to use whatever skills hes aquired to try his best.Children that dont have the freedom to choose activities based on their interest may not try to do their best because it doesnt really matter to them personally.
Should we provide our children with free time to engage in imaginative and creative play or more important to ensure that our children participate in organized activities? Well, my opinion I will ensure that my children participate in organized activities. Even though kids need to experience creative play to learn how to express themselves, become independent thinkers, and interact with peers, I believe that organized activities help children develop healthy attitudes toward themselves now and in the future.
I personally believe that having both a time for creative play and organized activities are both very important. I think taking the time for both are vital to the development of children. They are important for many reasons.
Describe the central focus and purpose of the content you will teach in the learning segment.
Instructions to the teacher: Please reflect on teaching and learning that occurred while you were being observed. Responses to each of the following nine sets of questions should average approximately 100 words or less. Examples may be attached, if appropriate and available.
Describe how the five processes of inquiry relate to young children’s learning and provide examples of how you can implement this into the classroom.
When reflecting on the challenges that I face as a teacher, some major challenges quickly stand out. Such obstacles are overpopulated classrooms, excessive paperwork, and limited resources. Even though these challenges are the first that come to mind, they are not my biggest hurdles. The two most significant challenges to me are the restraints from time and balancing personal life and work.
