A teaching assistant will be able to deal with many situations where a pupil requires a reprimand or sanction of some description for their actions and behaviour. For example, minor conflicts between pupils, not listening to instructions, talking in class or poor manners. However there are also instances where a pupil’s inappropriate behaviour needs to be referred on to someone else. If the teaching assistant has spoken to the same pupil(s) several times about the same behaviour, has even taken the step of taking away house points from the pupil, yet they still continue with the same behaviour; the pupil should at this stage be referred on to the class teacher. The class teacher should be referred to straightaway in the instance of a pupil swearing at other pupils or at members of staff; or if pupils have been fighting (physically) with one another. Depending on the severity of the fighting and the swearing it may be necessary to refer the behaviour on to the Head teacher. Instances of bullying should always be referred directly on to the Head teacher. If a pupil’s behaviour is consistently disruptive and inappropriate the Head teacher in my school would implement a traffic light system to encourage behaviour to improve. However, if no improvement is seen it may be necessary for the Head, in consultation with the

2.2 The teacher would need to promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others in the ground rules. Although this is not always adhered to by learners the teacher would make clear to the individual that inappropriate behaviour would not be tolerated and ask them to remain quiet or leave the session depending on the severity of the behaviour. Distractions from learners has the potential to distract others, therefore wasting time and potentially leading to the early commencement of the session.

1.1 Describe the policies and procedures of the setting relevant to promoting children and young people’s positive behaviour.
Positive behaviour support (PBS) is an approach to providing services to individuals who exhibit challenging behaviour. Since the early 1990s, PBS has received increasing attention from the behaviour-analytic community. Some behaviour analysts have embraced this approach, but others have voiced questions and concerns. Over the past dozen years, an approach to delivery of behavioral services known as positive behavior support has emerged as a highly visible movement. Although PBS has been substantially influenced by applied behavior analysis, other factors are also part of its
We must report any inappropriate behaviour to the class teacher and take action where appropriate. We must be fair and consistent when applying the school procedures to ensure that the pupils are treated equally. If pupils who behave badly are treated differently, or in their eyes unfairly, they will become confused of their boundaries and unsure of what is expected of them. Treating misbehaving children differently will have a negative impact on future behaviour.
If a Teacher has driven into another Teacher 's car in the car park and the other Teacher is extremely angry. The Teachers should resolve the issue quietly and out of sight of the children.
As a teacher, this activity has made me aware of the duties that principals carry out on a regular basis, in addition to the value they place on disciplining students that are referred to the front office.
At this age you will start to find that your child is starting to become very argumentive, your child may think that they know best. You should always punish your child if they are miss behaving because they may start to think that they are able to get away with bad behaviour. Never hit your child; to punish them you should simply use a time out zone, also known as the naughty corner or the naughty step. This gives time for your child to reflect on the actions they have taken.
Moreover, the teacher was overwhelmed prior to de-escalate the behavior through different methods. Therefore, Para educators, 1:1 aide staff kept other learners safe. For example, individual stole food from another student, whereas student retain scratching and bite marks. A staff member took the student to the nurse.
Our program’s philosophy on positive child guidance is to discipline instead of punishing children for accidents or mistakes they make. With the help of our committed staff, we can provide a positive atmosphere that will allow the children to feel loved and accepted to help build their self-esteem. Our program will offer the children with choices, but there will also be reasonable, and developmentally appropriate limits. The educators will model positive behaviours that will teach the children to problem solve and build self-control in a healthy, and safe way.
Educators should emphasize on positive focuses of what to do, rather than what not to do. Educators may also assist children in recognizing the effects of positive behaviours.
This observation was done on a Friday. At the beginning of the day, before the class even started, Mr. Taylor shared with everyone that he was putting his foot down and anyone acting out was going to get a referral due to it being Friday. He did not clarify as to whether this was a referral to the office or for detention. This was contradictory to previous observations of how poor behaviors were handled by this teacher. On this day, the class had the same three individuals in charge as it did in Mr. Taylor’s writing class on March 9, 2016. One student was not on task and had been disruptive. The teacher asked him to stop doing what he was doing fewer times than he had for the student calling him a loser two days prior. The student was promptly
