It was 5AM when Sophie was walking down the side of the eerie waterfront, just a few blocks from her apartment. This is really not what I wanted to be doing tonight, thought Sophie, staring down at her light blue canvas shoes. Is it really so hard to just leave me out of the antics? I just want to sleep. Molly and Zeke had long since abandoned her in lieu of a better party across town. In Molly’s drunken stupor, she forced Zeke into his car and sped away before Sophie even knew what was happening. When Sophie noticed that her friends were no longer in the rank old bar, she went outside to discover Zeke’s car was gone, with only skid marks as a clue to what had occurred. The darkness surrounded her, only given in to the occasional headlight of a passing car. Moisture hung in the air, developing a blanket over the area and making it that much more difficult to see more than 10 feet ahead. The smell of salty air and the sound of crashing waves was the only indication that Sophie was near water. As she meandered along, she noticed a truck up ahead, parked several feet from where the water was crashing against the concrete barrier. Sophie was only 20 feet away, but something told her that she shouldn’t go near that rusty, dated truck. Maybe it was the fact that there was no road nearby, or maybe because the driver was simply standing, watching the waves crash, contemplating. Darkness and fog obscured her view, but she could make out what looked like a lump of trash next to him. The feeling that Sophie felt next was that of horror and panic as she realized the mass by his feet was moving. Not only was it moving, but it was obviously trying to get away from the man and his plan. The individual wasn’t able to get far due to what appeared to be ribbon tied around her arms and legs. Sophie was frozen in disbelief and horror as the man stood the girl up with her back to the water, gave her face one last stroke, and pushed her into the dark abyss
