From my social care placement, I have chosen to assist a service user to partake in a recreational activity for completion of my HNC Social Care Graded Unit project. This part of the project will consist of planning and organising the activity. Throughout the planning section I will be disclosing personal details of the service user which I have learned from having permitted access to his support plan, and from conversations between us. During a recent consultation between my placement supervisor, the service user, and myself; permission to use this information was obtained – on the understanding that it was specifically and exclusively for the purpose of my Graded Unit Project only, and that the details documented were assigned to an …show more content…
The project focuses on developing their specific talents and social skills through participation in a varying selection of recreational activities. To consider David’s support requirement within my placement setting, I have used the P.I.E.S. method. This means assessing his: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social need (Oxford Cambridge and RSA, n.d.). David’s toiletry needs are minimal; he needs guided to the toilet but is capable to use the facilities by himself. Minor support is needed during meals. Sometimes he will request that larger pieces of food are cut up smaller, so he can gather food more easily with cutlery. David also prefers to use a plate guard to stop food sliding off his plate. He can find the last pieces of food if his sight guide tells him the clock-hand position which is related to the food’s location on his plate, which I found to be particularly impressive – and potentially relevant to the successful completion of my planned activity. His main support need is in the form of a long, white, hand-held cane, which is used to detect objects in his path. He also needs a full-time sight guide; a role usually fulfilled by either his immediate family members, or support workers. Helping David to maintain his independence in simple tasks would be a relevant achievement. Although he is capable, he is often found to be short of self-motivation and will happily allow people to run around after him.
This has led to David doing very little for himself as he knows it will be done for him. “Interpretive theories argue that the most important influence on individuals’ behaviour is the behaviour of others towards them” Marsh et al (2009) P.72. By being in an environment where David isn’t required to do anything he has learned not to bother and everything will still be done for him.
Ralph has chosen this song as he loves it. It's a song he'd love to be able to play on guitar. Ralph has stated he loves to play his guitar. However he gets frustrated when he try's to play it on his own. He often has his guitar out when he is relaxing in the unit and has stated he wants to write a song about his mum. Ralph actually sung part of a song he had thought up. The lyrics were very warm towards his mum. However this song was very short and maybe if Ralph gets better at the guitar with these lessons he will be able to put a whole song together about his mum. This would be a very positive event as
Staff working in partnership with a service user’s family will become more aware of families' individual needs, and know more about an elderly person's home context, thus enabling them to be aware of how the care home is different or similar to their own home and understand the elderly person’s behaviour with this in mind.
• Select a service user and provide a more detailed explanation of the stage of development which relates to the individual you have chosen.
The person may not be hungry at the set times, not like the food or be able to feed themselves alone and not have the help to feed them or be rushed to finished.

For this assignment, I interviewed a parent of a child who does not have an IEP or receive special education services. Through this interview I was able to learn how parents of children with no special needs are aware of the inclusion classrooms.

Appropriate care organised to help those goals to be achieved by the individuals with support from the professionals are set.
There are many forms I use to assess an individual’s needs. The first bit of the information comes from Derby City Council, which is called a outcome based support assessment. This is what they use to identify someone’s needs and how much care they require. The information on this document is great for Derby City to use, but I also need to do my own and adapt it so it’s easier for a care worker to understand as they are the ones who will be doing the care. It’s important that I read this document before going out to do my own care plan as it gives me a bit of back
Specifically, researchers were looking at any new skill development for the children, as well as the nurturing of positive behaviors and the development of a relationship with a mentor or staff member (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). The study took place in a major southwest city and it involved 25 interviews with staff members, 17 interviews with the parents of these children, and 61 interviews with the club members themselves (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). Interviews were conducted over five different sites, four of which took place in low socioeconomic areas (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). Two data collection methods were primarily used in order to come to conclusions. The first was researchers who were observing behaviors at any of the given five sites (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). The second was how researchers conducted in-depth interviews (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). The interviews and observations were conducted over a thirty week period and each interview consisted of approximately 12 to 14 interview questions (Carruthers and Busser, 2000). Data was analyzed using the cross-categorical method (Carruthers and Busser,
It is vital to have effective communication between professionals and organisations so that service user is protected. When there are any changes such as improvement in service users or degrading in their health conditions or if there is a suspicion of abuse, information must be shared by communication. By communicating, they are able to monitor the service user's well being and they can be up to date with information of service users. They are able to take action and ensure that service user's needs are
