Mrs. Sachs does a great job of maintaining her classroom. The students have three main jobs in the morning. The first job is to put their stuff away. The second job is for them to put the their animals in the basket. In their third job is to go sit on the rug. Once all the students are ready and on the rug we seeing a good morning song. That normally gets the students really engaged and ready for the day. We don't have any rules that hang up on the wall and Miss Sachs S Class. But every time we do stations she goes over the rules with the kids. Rule #1 one I will sit in my chair. Rule #2 I will keep my table organized. Rule #3 I will work at voice level 0. Rule #4 I will ask my friends for help. Rule #5 I will keep my dear teacher happy. In
These rules are displayed throughout the school and are referred to continuously by staff and children equally. We also have class rules that have been developed by the children themselves and are a positive device for encouraging good behaviour. The children can then monitor their own behaviour as well as the behaviour of other children in the class.
She told me about her classroom rules which are mutual respect, attentive listening and appreciations no put downs. She spent the first three weeks of school going over these three rules and afterwards she had each student write their name on colored paper which is their contract, their signature on that paper means they will follow those rules throughout the year. She has another rule in her classroom called “Kelso’s Choices”. Kelso’s Choices are nine different choices they can make on how to solve their problems in class. When the students come to an issue they have to choose two of the choices on the poster before going to the teacher. Some of the choices on there include, walking away, talking it out, apologizing, telling them to stop, etc. I really liked the idea of Kelso’s Choices because it teaches them problem solving as well as social skills. Instead of being unfair or going to the teacher they have the opportunity to solve the issues and be fair towards each other.
Most people will never have to endure the things that Irene Zisblatt endured before she was 18. She is a Jew who was 13 during the time of the holocaust. She and her family were taken from their home to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Upon their arrival to Auschwitz, Irene was separated from her father, mother, four-year-old sister, and two-year-old brother. That was the last time she saw her family; they were taken to the gas chambers. Her mother had given her four diamonds to keep with her, which she had to swallow to keep them safe. She survived on her own for many more days and was soon selected to have a horrific experiment done on her. Several days after the experiment, she was taken to the gas chambers to her death. However, with
As an early educators,we work very hard to ensure the safety and well being of our childeren in our care.We ensure safey and health by modeling the rules that we apply in our class room safey begins when the childeren arrive for the day. name tags are placed on the door when the childern arrive so we know who is with us.We begin by washing our hands and being seated for breakfast. One teacher will serve breakfast while the other teacher supervisors and sits with the childeren at the breakfast table. this is to prevent chocking and to see that the childeren set in the chairs the proper way.One opening teacher is to server while the other teacher in the class room takes care of changing this to prevent crossing
In 1993, I was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Music School at Ithaca
Dear reader, please keep in mind, difficulties affect people in varying degrees. Also remember, it inspires Ann Parrish. Given her unorthodox approach toward adversity, she excels at her job.
Throughout my observation of the classroom, I notice the classroom has routine schedule. The students come in take their coat off, go to the bathroom and wash their hands. Next, he students sit down at a table
Morning Meeting: Students will walk into the classroom, hang up their bags and jackets then eat their breakfast. Once they have finished eating students, will trace their name then they will raise their hand to have a teacher check it when they have finished. When they have finished tracing their name, while waiting for others to finish they can write in their journals. I will let everyone know that we will be reading a story (Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving by Pil key) so they will need to come join me on the rug. We will all sit down in a circle and I will let them know they will need to turn on their listening ears. After we have read the story I will ask the students to go back to their seats let them know they will be handed
My History with Ms. Flowers is about a six year journey. She has helped me with so many problems and accomplishments that turned me into the person I am today. She taught me how to keep going even when I thought I didn't have the strength to do so. She also encouraged me to step outside of my ¨box¨. Her saying was ¨ Live life fearlessly¨, I have always been nervous to step out of my comfort zone. That, I can´t stay in there forever because i´m going to miss out on a lot that life has to offer me as an individual.
In my life there have been many times where I have been taught important lessons or supported by others, but my most prominent memory is from sixth grade choir. In this moment in time, Mrs. Symans taught me a very important life lesson about attitude and hard work. I initially did not appreciate this because it upset me, but as I continue to progress through school and life, I’ve realized how much this particular memory, along with the help from others, has helped me over the years.
It seems to me that everyone knows Ida Keller. They seem to all know me from school, church, my mom or dad, my brother, or some other reason. If they are telling a story about me they and a person didn’t know me they would describe me as: blue eyes, brown hair, Caucasian, fat, and tall. How would I describe myself? Smart, loving, kindhearted, wanted, a jokester, bold, cheerful, corny, faithful, spirited, and uniquely myself.
They are clearly displayed in the classroom. On the first day of school we brainstorm rules for the classroom. I then write them in a positive rather than negative. We discuss what constitutes respect such as keeping our hands and feet to ourselves, keeping any objects to ourselves, using kind and positive words. We also talk about that listening when others are speaking involves listening to teachers, classmates, guests and announcements. Everyone then signs the poster, including me.
In my class at Peavy the students are allowed to go the bathroom at any time as long as they flip the sign on the door. The students are expected to work on their handwriting folder after they finish copying their vocabulary and sight words. When the kids do well the teacher gives them a puffball. When they misbehave she moves their clip down the posted sign. When they are very on target she moves them from the neutral position to the positive position.
After, everyone leaves for lunch I go to Mrs. Price’s desk to tell her that she was wrong, but when I go up to her desk to tell her she ignored me like i wasn’t even there. While,I was just standing there watching her grade papers and waiting for her to notice me, Kassidy Laster walked in, she was Mrs. Price’s favorite student. I stepped out of line and automatically when Mrs. Price saw Kassidy she shot right up from her seat and gave her a hug and started talking to her like she still didn’t know I was there. I was furious I stormed out of the classroom and went to lunch. I only had five minutes to eat because I took so long in Mrs. Price’s class. While I was thinking about what had happened in Mrs. Price’s classroom the announcements came
In Mrs. Mason’s class, the first day of school is full of practicing, but getting to know each other. During this, there are tons of building relationships, practicing rules, and setting expectations. During the first week, students are still getting to know peers through team building activities, trying to get each student caught up to the same level. Mrs. Mason thinks it is important students know where everything is at in the room and where to go in case of emergencies. She uses the first two weeks of school to get expectations and practices, as well as building relationships with students. I think it is important for the students to learn about the expectations and rules during the first two weeks. The first two weeks are the most hectic weeks of the year for elementary students. Once the students know the rule and expectations and kind of has a feel of how the classroom runs, the class will run more smoothly. Learning
