My English Class Analysis

In the past two months i fell like i have accomplished a great deal. As i focus on it more i realize i have become a better reader. I did this by concentrating on my readings and take my time to read them. With the help of my professor and classmates i began to analyze what i read.

Throughout the progression of this course I learned countless things concerning my writing. {Simkin, M. G., Crews, J. M., & Groves, M. J. (2012). While it’s there’s a many amounts of things ‘ve learned throughout the course, there are several things I‘ve learned which include the step by step process, including the correct usage of grammar and properly proofreading my work before I turn it in. I found out i had a major problem with my punctuation usage and insufficient when it came my periods and commas. I’ve invested some time writing through grammarly and other helpful sites to improve my writing skills. I appreciate the assistance and help I received from Mrs. C

As the semester comes to a close, it is always interesting to look back and reflect on the events and opportunities my English class has given me throughout my first semester as a whole. At the beginning of this semester it was evident that I was feeling uncomfortable due to the adjustment that I was going through as a student moving to college. It was very difficult expressing myself through my writing since I was nervous about good impressions and my good grade. While this class was one of the most difficult courses that I have taken this far, it has become quite evident to me that I have grown a substantial amount as a writer and as a person; Especially, when it came to explaining my ideas, writing academic essays, and making arguments.

In English 1102 students will learn many different techniques throughout the course to understand and compose an analysis on an array of topics. After the course is over it is up to the students to apply what they have learned to everyday life. Many students throughout this course have questioned why they have to learn this material and that it will not even help them in the real world, but they are wrong. Each and everyday people should look at the deeper meaning and analyze situations very carefully or else one may find themselves being deceived. Being able to analyze is a very important skill no matter what career choice you choose. In this course the material assigned also had many life lessons in them. My entire life, I have looked forward to math class; it has always made sense to me. Plugging numbers into an equation and solving for x always came easy to me. Outside of school, I enjoy reading. Easily, I could pick up a book and read the entire thing as time just flies by me. The books I don’t like to read are the ones that I am forced to read in a constricted amount of time. Before this year, I’ve never taken an honors English class; I was the smartest one in my CP class. I never challenged myself which is the reason I decided to take AP English. I didn’t put this on my schedule have my transcript look good, or to boost my GPA, I want to become a better writer. In 20 years, the skills I learn throughout this year will be more important

The five-minute warning bell goes off. I rush to my first class of my junior year, eager to see my classmates, who I was going to spend the rest of the 9 months with. I find myself stumbling into a classroom plastered with decorations of Denzel Washington with a Dr. Seuss book in his hand, a t and college flags galore. My AP English 11 class suddenly seemed so appealing to me. As a beautiful, curly haired short lady stood in front of me and said “Welcome to AP English 11,” I knew that I had found a treasure so much greater than just a pretty classroom. Little did I know, that short lady was going to inspire me throughout my challenge filled second-to-last year of high school.

When I think back to the beginning of this semester I remember my initial apprehension about having an 8AM class. When I was assigned the class, the name of the class - Rhetorical Arts: Speaking and Writing for Social justice, did not really mean anything to me. I didn’t quite understand it. Fast forward to the night before my last Rhetorical Arts class, I think I have a pretty good idea of why this class titled as it is. In a sense, some of the things that I have read, discussed and watched in this class changed the way I perceived certain topics and also gave me greater knowledge and insight about these topics. I now, feel that I can be more critical in my analysis of various subjects, I also feel that I can better process and voice my

I am here to go through some expectations regarding this AP course with you all as Mr. Spencer is away at a conference. The things I will go over are so that you understand what this class is about, specifically as it relates to the advanced placement aspect of it. As this is an AP English class it’s essential for you to have a basic understanding of how you are to structure content in an essay. This means I will explain what makes a strong thesis and how to back it up with a strong argument and rhetoric. All of this being said, I will also give you information on what exactly is generally expected of you in this classroom as a whole.

January of 2017 I started taking an English Comp II class. I was very hesitant about it because I knew I wasn't so good in writing. Coming into the class with a little bit of knowledge was good but I still am not a good writer or where I should be at this point. All the assignments the teacher give is kind of complicated for me because i just can’t come up with ideas to help me start and get through my paper. I wish i could focus better and be able to write papers.

I grew up in a extremely small town outside of Birmingham, and the high school I went to is not known for its academia. If I recall right, my high school english classes assigned only 1-2 papers a year, so writing 4-5 in a semester was a completely new adventure for me. I learned many things in this course that greatly helped me improve my writing. My writing overall improved in style, flow, and basic fundamental writing thought processes, which is all the areas that are hard to learn. I started to see my style and flow had grown bland and very fact based instead of grabbing the attention of the readers. Now that I understand where my writing needs improvement, I can start focusing on those areas and fixing my papers.

During the course of Mrs Wagner's Accelerated English 10 class I learned a tremendous amount. I learned all about things such as TIQA, ANT, verb tense. I also learned a gamut of vocabulary words. So over the course of the first semester I blossomed as a writer and Mrs Wagner showed me the hidden talents within my brain.

This transcript, an extract taken from one of the creative writing controlled assessments I submitted for my GCSE English Language studies, is a sociolect between two East-End Londoners. The complicity and the natural language employed within this private exchange denote a long-term relationship between two middle-class, middle-aged women, on the same intellectual level who are having a tease - a literal 'dig'- winding each other while carrying out casual gardening work.

When beginning any writing assignment, it can be a rocky start. It involves critical thinking and applying to your writing. First, you have to be skilled and be prepared in writing to get where you want to be. Therefore, my writing was complicated until I got into writing better than before. There comes a time when you have to start from scratch and work until you earn what you deserved. It was complicated to figure out what to write about, and to be precise. At first, I had adequate writing skills, but as I progressed through middle and high school, I have made vast improvements in my writing.

As a high school student taking on a college course, I acknowledged and accepted the challenge that lay ahead of me. The main reason I selected Composition I and II was that it allowed me to vastly improve my overall writing skills. Developing my techniques will benefit me when I am required to compose any writing assignments for my future college classes. Therefore, with that goal in mind, I chose to take this class while still attending high school. I began this class as an average writer; additionally, I did not know the majority of the writing rules or how to make an essay meet its potential. Over the course of these two classes, I believe that I have proven my writing to be more seamless and interesting to read.

On January 14th I was able to learn about three of my classmates in my composition II class. The three classmates I learned about are Djordje, Natalie, and Angelica. We learned about each other’s hobbies, achievements, and goals.
