A syllabus is a way to keep order in a classroom and at school. In Mrs. Brauckmann’s syllabus, the important topics to me are Attendance and Make-Up Work Policies, Rules and Expectations, and Academic Integrity Policies. How are you suppose to learn if you aren’t at school to learn? “Students are required to be at school every day, on time, and actively participate in their learning” (Brauckmann 3). It’s undoubtedly frustrating to be a teacher, trying your hardest to help all your students pass your class when the students aren’t present to learn. This is why it is very important to be in class every single day. If you have to miss school for a doctor's appointment or any other miscellaneous reason, make sure you get it excused in the office, within ten days. “All school rules as outlined in the student handbook are to be followed at all time” (2). Other students can’t focus or learn if you are not following directions. You would want other students to follow the rules so you can learn, so please do the same for them. Not to mention, rules are to keep everyone safe. If you are running in the halls, you might knock someone over and they could fall backwards and get a concussion. This is why it is very crucial for all students to follow the rules. Plagiarism is prohibited. If you use too much of one source, it can be considered plagiarism. “Plagiarism and/or cheating will not be tolerated. Generally, plagiarism is the use of another’s work-including ideas, opinions, data, illustrative material or media without properly attributing and citing the source” (3). This isn’t fair to the student that put in all this work for you to come and copy the work, or to the people that wrote that book or website.
