Film Study Compare/Contrast Essay While the book and movie version of Jurassic Park had its similarities and differences, I preferred the movie better because I felt like the visuals, music, and sound effects just made me feel like I was right there with the characters. There were a lot of similarities and differences in the movie and the book. I think that one of the most important similarities between the book and movies was that Dennis Nedry used the same bug he did in the movie as well as the book. Dennis Nedry could have easily put in another bug that could have either been way worse or not as bad. In the movie Allen, Ellie, John, Lex, Tom, and Malcolm get off the island on a helicopter with a happy ending and a sunset. In the book, they are found by soldiers and are taken in a helicopter and there are only the kids Malcolm Ellie and Allen. Hammond is killed by compsognathus. “As they did, Grant looked back just once, and saw the island against a deep purple sky and sea, cloaked in a deep mist that blurred the white-hot explosions that burst rapidly, one after another, until it seemed the entire island was glowing, a diminishing bright spot in the darkening night.”(334) The whole island gets napalmed and so the movies didn't blow the island up because they were going to make sequels. Like they used the begging of the Jurassic Park book in the second movie, and in the third movie, they used the pterodactyls from the book. Then they made Jurassic world, and in Jurassic Park 2: The Fallen Kingdom the island doesn't get napalmed instead it has the island's volcano blow up.
