During this clip of “Young Frankenstein” there were a few HR issues that I observed. The first issue I observed was smoking in the workplace. The issue of smoking in the workplace is the impact of second-hand smoke, which could affect the health of other employees and the comfort of non-smokers. People who are non-smokers usually don’t like the smell of cigarette smoke and this could make them unconfutable, which could lead to irritation or even a violent dispute as shown in the clip.
The issue about smoking in the workplace is important to organizations today because it has direct impact on both smokers and non-smokers. With this issue, it forces organizations to develop smoking policies. If I was the HR director at the castle, the policy
The P.E.R.I.E. process is illustrated in this case by the steps taken to address the issue of smoking rates in adults, being impacted by the rise in adolescent smoking behaviors. The first step of this process is the Problem. In this case, the text indicates, the problem is the growth rate of smoking teens in the 80’s and 90’s (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). This in turn, led to an increase in adult smokers. This would raise rates again, after previously lowering them by approximately 50% (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). The next step is Etiology. In this step we correlate smoking with cancer and the rise of adult smoking rates with the growth of adolescent smoking rates. This in turn, correlates adolescent cigarette smoking, to the rises in cancer (morbidity), and deaths from cancer (mortality). The case study also states, “…it was also found that nearly 90% of those who smoked started before the age of 18…” (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). It was determined through behavior modification (preventing adolescent smoking), the rate of adult smokers would reduce. Thus, recommendations were introduced. The case study reveals, adolescents were targeted in cigarettes advertisements and marketing (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2015). Cigarette availability was also an issue. Implementations of sales and advertisement campaign policies, were altered in reference to miners. The text reveals, once evaluated, strategies to reduce adolescent smoking
During the 1920's, smoking tobacco had been documented as hazardous to peoples health as studies had linked lung cancer patients were more commonly smokers. Since the 1920's various other studies had significant evidence to claim other health risks with pregnant women, children and the affects of second hand smoke on others. After all these studies came the debate on whether smoking should or should not be continued in a workplace.
The Company’s pledge to provide a safe and healthy work environment bans smoking on Company properties, including but not limited to break areas, bathrooms, and work areas. Employees who smoke will be able to do so only on break and lunch times. They will have to go outside of the Company’s facility in the designated smoking areas on the property.
When you are a smoker you are making the decision to damage your own body, but little do you know you are also damaging everyone else's body that you are in the room with. John
The current hot topic in the fire service is cancer. As the advocate for cancer prevention in my department I work diligently to educate my organization about ways to reduce the likelihood of developing cancer. Every shift I witness firefighters failing to protect themselves against this frightening disease. The threat
The Other is configured in the two writers’ works as victims of power play, their unjust mistreatment subsequently exposing underlying social inequalities. Through adopting the Gothic medium characteristic of Romanticism, the texts induce within the reader emotions of terror and pity towards the marginalised, leaving a profound effect which impactfully conveys the intended social criticism.
Ambition is a driving force, since the beginning of mankind it’s inspired minds worldwide, to strive and succeed. Ambition helps discover technologies, create hope and has helped people reach their goals. Although being ambitious can bring many opportunities and achievements, however, does ambition have just as many risks, as it does benefits?
Does the job position being filled-floor manager-make any relevant difference in this case? If not, can you think of a position where smoking would be relevant?
Thesis: It is imperative for smokers to quit, benefiting society as a whole a well as themselves.

Breaks offer employees a chance to rest, get some fresh air, eat lunch, or whatever they may please. Breaks are usually issued to those who work five or more hours, and vary in time from workplace to workplace. Employers have the power to choose whether or not to pay their employees for their breaks. Employees smoking on their free time, or while off the clock, is their personal decision and should not concern or damage their place of employment, but when taking unverified breaks from work to smoke a cigarette becomes hazardous and destructive to the business, then smoke breaks should no longer be allowed. Many may ask “why?” The following facts prove why smoke breaks should no longer be allowed.
2. The CEOs took action by implementing the health and smoking programs. Although there we many alternatives, their action was focused on the individual’s choice: to participate or not. The decision then became that of the employee and not the “for the group.”
Smoking should be banned in the workplace. It's a bad look for the company and It influences unhealthy social behaviours in the employees. Smoking is detrimental to our health; It's unhealthy, it causes cancer and unsurprisingly has killed over 14,900 Australians in 2004-05. Although there has been a decrease of smokers in Australia since then, we must focus on the effects it still has in our workplace environments.
Nicotine is highly addictive, which is one of the reasons why it is so dangerous. The nicotine withdrawals a person might go through can be one of the biggest reasons they cannot/will not quit. Smokers may know the dangers it causes, but have too much difficulty quitting and it is no longer an option for them. They may decide to continue smoking, accepting the risks simply because of the psychological and physical traumas quitting takes them through. One of the employees fired by Weyco in Michigan due to its ban on smoking, Cara Stiffler, spoke out about the policy. She strongly disagrees with the ban and she believes that quitting smoking is a fight about personal liberty. She says “I want to quit, but I want it to be on my terms, not someone forcing me to make that
C. Today, I’d like to talk to you about how banning smoking in public can lead to less secondhand smoking and health effects, causing fewer environmental issues, and finally, supporting smokers in giving up smoking.
