Guns Are Not

There are many different perspectives on this topic. Some people believe the solution to this problem is gun control. There are different views on gun control. Some people believe guns should be taken away from the citizens of this country completely. Others believe certain guns are the cause and should be taken away. Yet others believe more control over accessories that can be attached to the gun is the answer. The first obstacle I see with gun control is the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Gun control laws are very difficult to write without taking away the rights of the individual. The second obstacle I see is border accessibility. Illegal guns and drugs are smuggled into the United States over land, in tunnels under the border, with airplanes, and over unsecured waterways. Without better border security, guns will still be accessible to the individuals that commit these crimes. After examining gun control I don’t see it as a viable solution to the problem.

We must simply solve as many problems as possible to try to alleviate them for the greater good. Once the citizens have come to this harsh realization the government must put new laws into action. Automatic weapons must be made illegal. They are for killing large groups of people and no American citizen should have to have so much responsibility on their shoulders unless they are at war fighting for our country. Another solution is once again making a ban on large magazine capacities. Citizens should not be allowed magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Anymore than that is an unnecessary amount. Some states recognize this and have similar laws, but others fail to realize how many live this potential law could save. It should be made countrywide in order to insure the safety of the people. Imagine being able to get your hands on a gun in your community with ease when you were younger. Sounds cool right? Well, to some it might and that’s how young children are living in our communities now-a-days. Kids are able to get guns as long as they have parents with guns or the money to buy one. In 2015 13,286 people were killed by a firearm,but you can't take guns away from everybody, there is always a way to get a gun. The gun violence, crimes, and cases in the United States is a national epidemic. A lot of people take advantage of guns using them and manipulating their weapon with hardly any thought. Many countless innocent lives have been lost because of the fact that people have been able to obtain firearms legally or illegally. These people have taken the notion to be the jury, judge, and executioner in holding someone’s life in their hands. These are very serious cases where people have misused their rights by manipulating the Stand Your Ground Law and their weapon. Gun violence just do not affect the victims, but it also affects poor neighborhoods, family and friends. This brings up not just one problem but a large and complex amount of problems since there is no one solution for these events. The problem isn’t guns but the people who carry them. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” is one of those quotes that many gun advocates use in there own defense, however, the truth is that people use guns for what they were made for, killing. So the blame isn’t the guns because that is there purpose, to end life, the blame is the people. Instead of putting all the blame on guns and the law we need to focus our attention on the people who commit these crimes and see why they committed them because finding the solution to what caused them to grab a gun and murder is the real solution to our “gun problem”.

I don’t think there is a fix to this firearm issue. There are too many people that own firearms, and there is no way they are going to let that Amendment be changed. Even if the Second Amendment is removed from the Constitution, there are already too many guns out there. I will really like to know what the government is going to do about this. There guns murders and mass shutting keep increasing, and thing are getting out of hand. People are not going to have their guns taken away from them, and I understand that. They paid for those guns, and guns are not cheap. I don’t own a gun right now, but I’m sure I’ll probably buy one in the future. Knowing that there are so many people that own them, makes me feel in disadvantage. Probably many others

Next, it is important to ask who are the people that really kill? Is it the gun or the person? People who defend the right to bear arms often state that it is not the gun that kills it is the individual that kills. Some feel the answer lies in that we need to introduce stricter laws on who is able to apply for license to carry guns. Gun laws vary from state to state with California being the most restrictive state to Arizona with the most lenient laws. These laws include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to who can purchase and sells guns. Even with these laws in place we have still witnessed an increase in the number of mass shootings over the past few years. Implementing stricter gun control laws will ultimately not eliminate individuals from acquiring access to guns if they truly desire. State governments may require licenses to purchase guns but there remains an underground and online market to purchase guns, which does not monitor whether a person truly has a license or not. On July 25, at Club Blu in Fort Myers, Florida, a shooter shot 18 people, killing 2 and injuring 16. Due to these recent shootings all across America, citizen become increasingly more concerned for their safety. We need to look at these shootings and realize that something needs to be done. We need to make the ways of obtaining guns and ammunition harder for everyone. Everyone needs to join forces and implant this problem that is plaguing on our great country.

A series of events involving guns has brought the United states to a realization that they might need to take action before more people get hurt. One event that has occurred among many is the shooting in Parkland Florida. On February 14, 2018 17 year old Nikolas Cruz took an AR-15 assault rifle into his former high school Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School killing 17 and wounding others. This was the deadliest school shooting since 2012 and Sandy Hook Elementary School. The government needs to keep guns out of people's hand that are not qualified or stable enough to own a gun, Also they government needs to create stricter requirements hand and or own a gun, Lastly, the government needs to to this to keep innocent adults and children safe.

In America, the death count due to gun violence raised a couple ten thousand deaths each year. Yet, there has been no progress in solving this problem. Why has there been no progress?
