One insight that I gained about my own experience in addressing grief is that it has made me a stronger person; in addition, I am truly able to be more empathetic with people who have lost someone or something important to them. Being empathetic is a strong skill as a social worker, as we are working with people who may have experienced a great deal of loss in their lives. At the age of 24, I have had to attend four funerals for my grandparents. Therefore, I have experienced a lot of grief for how young I am. Learning how to cope has truly made me a stronger person. I have learned to cherish all the fantastic memories that I have with each one of my grandparents. Emily asked the group what they would do if a client was not ready to terminate with you as a social worker. I jumped in and told the group that I would explain to the client the goals that they have achieved; therefore, I would be reiterating all the progress they have made with our time together to show them they are ready to be on their own. However, Brittany said it should always be up to the client to choose whether they are ready to terminate with the social worker. I will incorporate what Brittany said into my practice as a social worker by ensuring that my client has the last input, as our time together is about them not me. Just because I think a client has reached their goals, the client may not be ready to terminate. Emily suggested that you could always make one more meeting with the client or meet with them less often; however, it should always be up to the client. Overall, they both made good points that I will be sure to remember in my practice as a social
