First, I skim the chapter, resting on big ideas that are new, complex, and/or especially confusing, and speeding through things I quickly understand--just getting the gist of things. Sometimes I jot down things if I feel compelled to; sometimes I don’t. If there were any homework problems or quizzes I don’t feel 100% confident on, I redo them until I feel comfortable. I ask the teacher any the questions I have. I read the chapter again, but this time I usually draw some diagrams and come up with funny pictures or mnemonic devices that can give me some shortcuts.
Then I read the chapter again, but this time I have made picture in my mind of the pages and I try to anticipate the terms and the concepts and my own examples for each concept before I read them. If I miss any, I jot them down again. Sometimes, I read the book backwards, sub-heading to sub-heading until I can see pretty much the whole

My mom is a biologist, so sometimes while we cook dinner together we’ll have discussions that delve pretty deeply into what I learned (or thought I learned), which I really like. It sticks with me. Basically my studying method is figure out what I know and what my weaknesses are, attack the weaknesses first, make sure I ask questions and think insightfully, then check everything over. My methods for attacking my weaknesses depend on the type of stuff I’m learning about in AP Bio. I pick the one or combination of ones that I think will get me the most prepared in the least amount of
Create a time management plan for your reading schedule to ensure you have ample time to read the book. Set due dates for each chapter and each part of the assignment. Review your schedule with a parent or guardian.
My group had an instance of functional which was to work together to achieve the assignment. We had to pick four out of eight people, and all of eight people would die very soon if they did not have another heart. After reading the assignment sheets, we could pick two people immediately, Peter and Thomas, who were young boys. We had a lot of opinions about picking the other two. For me, I would pick Father and Donna base on what I read. However, after spending about ten minutes to discuss with my group, we all had agreement for Father and Mike. Even though I picked Donna instead of Mike, the other members shared their opinions and analyzed the information; so finally, I agreed to pick Father and Mike. At first, each of us had different choice
The recent test was a bit of a wake up call. I missed the i**103 question. It's frustrating in that I calculated the correct result, but for some perverse reason chose the wrong selection. I guess once solved, my mind tends to wander on to the next question. With only 10 multiple choice questions, this can have a devastating impact. From a return on investment, this is definitely an area worth improving. I generally do a substantial portion of course exercises in my head, and don't bother writing them down. This is perhaps a mistake on my part, since recording the results correctly is a critical final step worth practicing. Unfortunately, this approach does significantly increase the time necessary to complete the exercises.
I have chosen Option 1 for my Language Development Project. There were many reasons as to why I decided to choose Option 1. The main reason is that, learning new words is a personal interest of mine. I never feel like I know too many words. That’s why I find it satisfying to learn new words and try to incorporate those words in my writing. During the early years of my high school, I always felt like my vocabulary wasn’t up to snuff. But, oddly enough, I began to improve my vocabulary through watching movies, TV shows, and playing games. I looked up a new word that I came across, and incorporated it into my writing. I had also learned to understand the meaning of an unknown word through the context that word was written in. Now that I’m in college,
Liability Account - When you receive a service from another company this becomes a liability account. If a company purchases supplies, they then have an obligation to repay, making it an account payable. (MyAccountingCourse.com, n.d.)
Students are asked first to read the reading passages provided within the textbook. Then, they analyze the passage to underline, highlight, or select the most important information. This can also be through the use of paraphrasing (summarizing) each paragraph and/or applying the KWL(S) reading approach after reading. Afterwards, students will need to find ways to relate what they have learned from the text to their lives in order to connect to the readings and comprehend what they have read.
Honestly, I will always have to write things down for me to remember it, so I will continue to write notes and rewrite them to learn and study them for tests/quizzes. I will try to be an auditory learner as well sometimes because of the lectures, what the professor says is also important. I learned that when I was doing the summer bridge program, sometimes examples of what he said
The first thing I did every chapter was to pre-read through the chapter in its entirety and highlight words I did not know. I would later go back and look up the words highlighted and write down the definitions next to it. After I was done highlighting for diction, I
These are the techniques or strategies that I use. The challenges that I will face while I am completing my study of To Kill A Mockingbird are similar to the ones listed above. I won’t have a problem with finding the book interesting because I like books like this one. However, as I finish the books I think there will be several parts in the text which I won’t understand and then I will have to read over again. Also, the book must be finished within a certain time span, and this will be a challenge because I will have to manage my time to finish the book. The challenge to finish this book, not hurry up and understand the novel at the same time will definitely be one of the more difficult problems that I will have to solve. These are the problems I may face while reading the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. All these challenges while reading the novel will have to be solved because I have to be successful in reading and understanding the book for personal enjoyment and also for the class assignments that I have to
As I reflect on my summer reading of the book “The Lord of the Flies”, I am able to recall a few habits that I experienced. Some were more evident than others to say the least. You see, before I begin reading a book I make predictions on what the book is going to be about by looking at the title and the cover page. In addition, it’s important for me to find a quiet place before I begin reading. Furthermore, before I start my reading it is important for me to set goals, so I can accomplish as much of the reading I’m required to complete. Most importantly, I must be able to not only complete the reading assignment, but also have a good comprehension of its context. Moreover, I’ve realized that during my reading there are other habits that I use, which is to make sure I understand the section I’m reading before I move on to the next part of the book.
First of all, quickly scan the entire section you will be analyzing. You should be actively thinking as you are reading. Make sure you understand all the information that you are taking in, so you can pass a quiz or test when the time comes. If you do not understand, make sure to get help as soon as possible or refer to another resource such as the Internet. If you are asked to take notes while reading, only take out keys points so as not to confuse yourself. If possible, highlight passages with imperative information. When reading a non fiction book you should always look at the glossary to get to know the words or phrases that will be used in the passages. If there is not one, you should have a dictionary handy to look up words that you are unfamiliar with. All in all, understand what you are reading.
1. Bella, you have been studying on English for years. 2. It's everything you've dreamed of. 3.
First you must attend class. Then you take notes in away that you would understand to review on your own. Next ask the professor any question you may have prior to leaving the classroom. After class review what notes you have written down and try to grasp an understanding of what information you took from the lesson. If you feel that you cant grasp an understanding then makes examples with real life connections. You can use text to self, text to text or ,text to world examples to grasp a better understanding of the
My strategy was to preview the material before reading by looking over headings, vocabulary, and illustrations to obtain a general understanding of the topic. I would write notes using an indentation format since “research studies have shown that the use of outlines and concept maps have found positive correlations to improved reading comprehension” (Lei, Rhinehart, Howard, & Cho, (2010). Additionally, I utilized the layered reading strategy by skimming the text and identifying which sentences were important. I would re-read the noted areas for the second and third layer to engrain the information into my memory. If I did not understand the sentence, I would read around the area to understand the context.
