The National Service Animal Registry defines an emotional support animal as, “ a person's pet that has been prescribed by a person's licensed therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist,”they state that “The animal is part of the treatment program for this person and is designed to bring comfort and minimize the negative symptoms of the person's emotional/psychological disability,” (All About). Emotional support animals have a huge list of responsibilities they can take on and learn to help their owner. These animals require minimal training and their jobs are specifically tailored to what their owner needs to maintain their mental health. Still these animals have less rights than service animals. Still, they have laws protecting them and their owners. My brother and I each have our own emotional support animals that provide us with their multiple skills that help keep us mentally safe.

When I first took the test to see what I scored, I was surprised with many of my results.

In this activity we were given three separate tasks based on one theme. The first activity we were given was to form five questions that we could ask a specific person that we knew. The questions had to be based on a journey that a specific person has either been on or had been taken part in. Once we had formed these questions our second task we had to complete was to interview the specific person that you based your questions on. We had to ask the questions that we created to them and then we had to record their answers. Our third and final activity we had to complete was to turn the interview and answers that we were given into a story based on our subjects journey. We had to change the interview into a story which meant that we had to change the interview into past tense. We also had to put the interview together into sentences rather than questions and answers.

The two spells learned in class this week were the Softening Charm and the Verdimilius Charm. The Verdimillius Charm can be used in one of two situations. I decided to research this topic as I have always been interested in animals and want to pursue a career working with animals. After watching a captivating news clip on assistance dogs it was clear this was going to be the topic I would investigate for my research project.

The allied forces are using many types of animals such as horses, dogs, and even pigeons for a variety of jobs. Around 20,000 dogs are being used by the Allies for purposes such as: alerting soldiers of any unknown presence found in the camp, detecting enemy scent when patrolling, finding any injured or dying soldiers, running vital messages to other platoons, and even as emotional support for the soldiers.

Animals, such as dogs have been service animals for a very long time, and helped many people that suffer from many diseases. But, dogs aren't the only service animal out there. There can be animals like reptiles that also can help people that are struggling with diseases and or disabilities. This is how animals can help us with our everyday lives in many unique ways.
