Collective impact allows organizations a chance to come together to define a problem and create a shared way to solve it. Collective impact has five conditions in order to have a collective success. These conditions are common agenda, shared measurement systems, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and backbone support organizations. (1) The common agenda allows people to have a common vision of change that the group wants and with this, they have to have a clear understanding of what the problem is and how they are going to solve it. (2) The share measurement systems is a way to agree on that the success will be measured and reported. (3) Mutually reinforcing activities is when different activities are assigned to each people and they are supported and encouraging each. (4) Continuous communication is important because it helps to build a rapport among themselves and others organizations and this might take some time because people need to know that they will be treated fairly and that their concerns will be taken into consideration. Dismissing your own individual opinions to reach group consensus, now that’s negative peer pressure! Peer pressure will always be a problem and can affect anyone. I say that because no matter where you’re from or who you are, peer pressure is lurking about. Anytime you’re pressured to do something and your conscience is telling you not to do it, and you follow through with the task anyway, that is dismissing your opinion just to please other group members. Not wanting to be ostracized by others is the basis of conformity. Peer pressure doesn’t discriminate against race, nationality, or social class. It’s like a plague waiting to spread like wildfire throughout your school, your

Introduction: In the given statement "simply put, teams will be the primary building block of performance in the high performance organization of the future. As a result, effective top managers will increasingly worry about both performance and the teams that will help deliver it" (p. 239, The Wisdom of Teams). Authors Jon R. Katzenbach and Douglas K. Profound impact in one’s life starts in the roots of education. As stated in an article from the Economic and Social Research Council, which is based in the United Kingdom, “Education is often used by people to shape their ‘social identity’, framing their understanding of themselves and their relationships with other people. A positive, affirming social identity is associated with a range of positive outcomes in life, such as increased well-being, health, social trust and political engagement” (ESRC). As such observations would come to conclude, the advancement and challenge to the learning process that one undergoes potentially brings about great results in both the mental and social environment. Having considered the opportunity of taking the course of AP English Lit and Comp this upcoming year, I have found an
By working together, local organizations no longer need to compete for resources, duplicate efforts, and can come together to address the long-term needs of the community like ensuring kids are prepared to learn and families have the tools they need to remain employed. “It is energizing to work with a group of visionaries who, instead of competing for precious resources, are eager to share and collaborate for the greater good of the people we serve,” stated Stephanie Slayton, Program Manager with Project Self-Sufficiency, a Community Impact Partner focused on helping working families
Personal Impact : The issue of Financial Accessibility affects me in various ways. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree over five years ago in 2012, and I’m still in the process of paying back my school loans. My financial debt influenced my decision to continue onto my Master’s degree, to further my career and receive a higher salary in order to one day pay off my loans in its entirety. Financial Accessibility affects me as a professional, because from time to time I hear cases where students are dropping out of our program due to lack of funds. If students are not able to obtain an education then they’re unable to gain a career, and provide for their livelihood or future families. It also affects the institution if students are not enrolling,
A common agenda is a shared vision by the various participants in the partnership. Wesley builds upon the African concert of Ubuntu that describes collectivist cultures and the shared partnership that leads to what westerns refer to as collective impact. Collective impact refers to collaboration and coordination in partnerships that leads to lasting change on large scale issues. Out of this collective impact theory, Wesley stresses that through a common agenda, with a shared vision of change against a specific problem, can lead to successful problem solving through an agreed upon
As with any form of creating change there is benefits and challenged. Coalitions were very interesting to learn about because when people want change they expect it to happen immediately, which is opposite of coalitions. Coalition’s uses a formal way of organizing which involves long-term collaborations and organizations coming together to agree on a common goal to help a community (310) I think it’s very beneficial to have these diverse organizations working together because it shows the community being helped that larger organizations and companies care about the issue they are facing. Coalitions also have a action based approach to making a change which I think is helpful and important because doing an action to help is greater than just
At one point or another, everyone has been placed in a group of people and assigned a task that needed to be accomplished. Many of these groups are simply that, a group. The task that many fail to see as the number one objective of the group is to foster a teamwork by actually transforming the group to a cohesive team. The idea sounds fairly simple and transparent, "If everyone works together, we have a team!" This could not be farther from the truth. Teamwork is not merely the ability to work together to get from point A to B. The Overhead Reduction Task Force is a case that exhibits this strong need to build a team in order to be the most effective in achieving goals. The group that has been
Social media has become a prominent part of life for many young people today. Most people engage with social media without stopping to think of its influence on our lives, whether positive or negative. What will the long term effects of today's social media use be for our youth? Social media has revolutionised how most of us communicate, especially regarding young people, even in the most remote Indigenous communities in Australia youth culture is being reshaped through digital technologies. Young people are provided with a range of positive opportunities to maintain social connections and support via online social networks as well as learning and participating with a multitude of interests. Along with these opportunities there are also risks associated with social media such as social isolation or loss of privacy as well as cyberbullying and self-esteem pressures. We need to develop the opportunities offered by digital and social media to promote learning and wellbeing for our youth that is inclusive of young people’s input and ideas.
