In this paper I will discuss how a team leader assesses how big the team is needed in order to accomplish the task assigned to them. This paper will also discuss the how conflicts can arise while trying to meet their goals. Such as which person works better in certain areas. I will also talk about how a team leader resolves their problems that may accure. In addition I will also discuss if team work will take longer to complete task along with some of its advantages. The other two would put all warning stickers and make sure that they were put at the right loading docks so that they could be sure. The last person would inspect that right part was being shipped to the proper location on the order forms from the customers (dealers) and making the final calls that parts were on their way.
When I asked him if he came across any conflict of any type his response was no, the reason he said no was because he cross trained everyone in the department and put his strongest workers in the position that they exceed in. also he built up a relation between them as far as work was concerned. Another he had weekly meetings and would listen to all concerns and let them talk it out amongst themselves and then in the end after listing to everyone he would answer all concerns that were in his control. The concerns that were beyond his pay grade he would bring it up to his supervisors and the following week he would inform his employees with the best answer that was given to him by his supervisor. His most common conflict wasn’t so his employees as he explain it was having the right part in stock or the part being in the right location.
As went along with the interview I asked if he felt that team work might take longer than it would a single person. Surprising he said it all depends the on the task at hand and how well it’s
It is essential to have teamwork within a company. Companies who have embraced the concept of teamwork have reported increased performance in work production, problem solving and it has stimulated new growth. This group project approach has improved employee morale and increased input when managed correctly. The benefits of teamwork can make a positive effect in the company that incorporates this type of teamwork approach.
Teams are an integral component of organizational success. They take on many forms and functions and can have various structures. Teams also conduct a wide variety of projects with goals of innovation or mitigation. An example, from my experience, of a project that required the execution from a team was the establishment of a finished goods inventory program within a paper manufacturing company. A project of this magnitude required that a diverse and multifaceted team be assembled.
/ The mentioned research in this article by McIntyre and Salas could be one of basic steps in understanding the team work aspects. Undoubtedly, it can be used related to future research in favour of finding solutions in this regard. (McIntyre & Salas 1995,p. 41). The military teams focus on researches in order to understand the major aspect of team working. As it is mentioned in this article, some similarities can be found among military or non-military organizations concerning hierarchical structure and strategic decision making. Moreover, it is almost challenging to find exact number from real life in order to make statistical assessment, and it’s very costly to hire people from their actual profession to conduct research on artificial environment (McIntyre & Salas ,1995, p. 35). Another important point that should be considered is that the study concentrated on team working instead of working individually. Over the study period, the required data are gotten through interviews and also daily base forms. Based on the forms and conversations results , nineteen key principles are found which are the necessary and important aspects (findings) of team working. When working with a large task it is helpful to have a plan of action. There are usually many steps and much involvement is necessary for production and or operation. Because of this, it is helpful to have a helping hand. Once team members have been selected and plans are complete it is then necessary to think about who will be better suited for each type of function. Often times, a majority of these functions overlap and involve one another and team members need to work together. That is when teamwork comes in handy. Without teamwork many of the largest projects could not be complete and possible. They are an essential part of business.
For an organization to achieve its set strategic goals, there are several aspects of human resources that cannot be ignored. One of them is teamwork. The assessment of a high performing team has come to pass and acknowledged. The leadership responsibility develops progressively into work that is conducted remotely, traditional company boundaries are becoming more permeable and collaborations are essential. Developing a team remains as challenge. Enthusiastic, striving, and proficient individuals are always an advantage, but they often signify different purposes, products, and can compete for influence, resources, and advancement. Katzenbach and Smith identify three types of teams. These teams consist of task forces or project groups. Slide 10-3 illustrates their components and functions. Katzenbach and Smith use a triangle to categorize the basics of teams: performance results, personal growth, and collective work. The outer perimeter focuses on skills, accountability and commitment (Barrett, D., 2014). Substantial performance encounters motivate teams unrelatedly of where they are in an organization. However, teams cannot arise s without a routine challenges that is significant to those engaged. Teams that work towards the goals and objectives of a project will encounter different undertakings as part of the action process. To improve communication and involvement, teams use methods that are intended to inspire teamwork, such as outcome-oriented meetings and regular clusters. Teamwork is a group of people working towards a common goal under the direction of a leader. By working together as a single unit towards the common goal the team is a highly effective tool in improving workplace performance. Through the use of a leader the team has the ability to solve problems that they face. Teamwork utilizes the effective communication and collaboration of its team members. It is Richard Hackman’s notion that using a team to complete a complex project may not be the best approach for an Organization. The purpose of this report is to provide my boss a well-researched report on Hackman’s comment. This report outlines the cons of why working together hinders the group. Due to the situation of working in teams, team members can sometimes find that they are not working effectively, which negatively affects their progress, and their ability to be successful. Some common problems identified by individuals working in teams are, getting started, ineffective communication and Unproductive behavior. Working together as a team doesn’t have to end in a catastrophe. To improve teamwork, I will disclose five recommendations; I will provide ways on how to better a team and methods on making the team effective.
