DEI is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. DEI is put into place within the workplace so that all walks of life feel included as well as not looked at in a biased way due to their ethnic backgrounds. Everyone should feel like they are treated equally and are all welcome. When going over the data for the employees, the DEI department will have so much information made available to them such as, the race, sex, and age of the employee as well as their ethnic background and the history of where they have worked before not to mention education and evaluations. When it comes to the DEI team, they are the ones who create the reports that are acquired from the employee database. The reports that they form will give information that will help choose the best candidate for a specific position. This also helps the business decide on that the pay will be for that employee based on experience. When it comes to something such as a promotion it helps decide who is more qualified to promote and compared to another employee ( DEI in the Workplace: Why It’s Important for Company Culture | Penn LPS Online , 2023). Another aspect of DEI is gender equality. Women in leadership roles is currently less than 10% and is changing with every year that comes. People with disabilities should be offered a chance to have a decent job as well if they are qualified. DEI makes sure that those candidates are fairly represented and have an equal chance to acquire a job just like anyone else would be able to (Global Business Coalition for Education, 2022). Having a diverse and inclusive workspace is important because it cuts out biased opinion and creates openness and equality within the company. When there is a diverse and equal culture it makes the company feel like everyone is treated with respect and creates a sense of community that helps coworkers feel like they can share their ideas and their culture backgrounds with
