D
Whose kindling zeal my chastened spirit drew,
And marshals now a myriad retinue
To pave a path of safety for the Jew—
In striving youthful and in service old,
Alert, unresting, dominant and proud,
Forgetting not the fealty you vowed
In common with the Fathers, at the Mount,
Where God revealed His Covenant in flame—
Yours is a great, imperishable name!
Who else an equal heritage can claim,
Or render such illustrious account!
And yet instead of coveting, we plead
A portion of your spirit for our need.
