John Dryden (1631–1700). The Poems of John Dryden. 1913.
Songs from the PlaysI lookd and saw within the Book of Fate, from The Indian Emperor
I
When many Days did lower,
When lo one happy hour
Leapt up, and smil’d to save thy sinking State;
A day shall come when in thy pow’r
Thy cruel Foes shall be
Then shall thy Land be free
And then in Peace shall Raign:
But take, O take that opportunity,
Which once refus’d will never come again.
