Daughter of the Great Man

D. H. Lawrence

From “War Films”

THE DAUGHTER of the great man rolls her khaki wool,

And in her hands the sparkling needles fly

Swiftly. I wish I might kiss her fingers; but full

Of danger I find her, even worse than the fields where we die.
