The Bubble
By William Allingham (18241889)
S
Floating sphere!
Faintest breeze will fan it
Far or near;
Moonshine rays,
Rainbow tints together,
As it plays.
Nigh to earth,
Mounting, whirling, sailing,
Full of mirth;
Waving round;
Pictures coming, going,
Without sound.
Globe repelled!
Never can the fairy
Star be held.
Disappears!
Leaving but a sprinkle,
As of tears.
