Epitaph upon Cleombrotus

By Callimachus (c. 310–240 B.C.)

LOUD cried Cleombrotus, “Farewell, O Sun!”

Ere, leaping from a wall, he joined the dead.

No act death-meriting had th’ Ambraciote done,

But Plato’s volume on the soul had read.
