William Mumford Baker (1825–1883)
Baker, William Mumford. An American descriptive and miscellaneous writer; born in Washington, DC, June 27, 1825; died in South Boston, MA, Aug. 20, 1883. He graduated from Princeton in 1846, and became pastor of churches in Texas and in South Boston, MA. His most important book was ‘Inside: A Chronicle of Secession’ (1866). He also wrote many stories, including ‘His Majesty Myself’ (1879).
