Julius Henrik Lange (1838–1896)

Lange, Julius Henrik (läng’ė). A Danish art critic; born at Vordingborg, June 19, 1838; died at Copenhagen, Aug. 20, 1896. After leaving the University of Copenhagen he thereafter devoted himself to study of the history of art. Among his works are: ‘On Art Values’ (1876); ‘Danish and Foreign Art’ (1879); ‘Gods and Men in Homer’ (1881); ‘Art and Politics’ (1885); ‘Thorwaldsen’s Representation of the Human Figure’ (1893).
