August Friedrich Ernst Langbein (1757–1835)

Langbein, August Friedrich Ernst (läng’bīn). A German humoristic poet; born near Dresden, Sept. 6, 1757; died on Jan. 2, 1835, at Berlin. His ‘Poems’ (1788); ‘Drolleries’ (1792); and ‘Later Poems’ (1812, 1823), circulated everywhere. He wrote also several humorous stories, among them ‘Master Zimpfel’s Wedding Tour’ and ‘Thomas Kellerwurm.’
