On the Death of Burbage

Richard Burbage was a noted English actor of Elizabeth’s time. He seems to have been the original Hamlet, Lear, and Othello, and acted in the same company as Shakespeare. He was highly esteemed by authors and the public. He died on March 16, 1619.A
STRONOMERS and star-gazers this year,
Write but of four eclipses—five appear;
Death interposing Burbage, and there staying,
Hath made a visible eclipse of playing.
