What America Means To Me Essay

When most people think of America they think of the land of the free and the home of the brave. But have you ever thought about what America means to you? America is home to many different people, places and things. Many of which represent our country in a variety of ways. But when I think of America I think of American spirit, diversity and our individual rights. But there an array of contributions that made America so significant in the hearts of the people who live here.

America is a wonderful place to live, because we are free. Freedom is important, and many people in other countries do not have much freedom. I am glad I have a place like this to grow up in; where I know that I can be equal with other races and other genders. Also, I am glad I have a place like this that will respect me and I know it will be a great place to have my children grow up in.

A question most fascinating to me is where in history does the first hint of American ideals and identities originate from? If we were to look at where the fiery passions of an American identity first arise we have to look to where the colonists first fought for their right to be a recognized citizen of America. American colonists formed their identity through the ideas of liberty, resistance to unfair British jurisdiction, and cultural diversity. Their identities formed between the Seven Years War and the American Revolutionary War as these two events deeply brought out what the colonist’s ideals were and what they fought for so passionately. Between these years 1763 and 1775 we see the first American ideals being born in the colonies. An example of such ideals is the want and need for Liberty. A reason for wanting liberty was that British control suppressed the lives of the people living in America and over time grew harder for colonists to live with. Americans are revered to have a passionate patriotic view of their country and this is true as it is seen throughout history but in my research I will try to explain where these ideals first arose.

America is like the golden gate to all; to the ones who have high hopes and dreams, or the ones who view it as the only option for a better life for themselves and their family. For decades others have labeled America as “the better life” but what does it truly mean to be an American? It means that all have the right to “The Pledge of Allegiance" and can vote for President, the Mayor, and city government officials. And be welcomed to the place of no sleep for a dreamer and a wild imagination for those who fight to make it here. To be an American is an honor and privilege, also to be free and prideful to live in the United States, finished off with high respect and love for one’s country.

The idea of America is one that is complex while remaining undeniably simple. Freedom is at the core of this country’s existence. Without freedom the United States of America would be just another continent, no different from any other sovereignty that lies on this planet. Believing that people were

America is known as the land of opportunity. Being an American means that one has the freedom to choose the way he or she wants to live. They have the option to be a contribution to society or not. America gives the people a choice with everything they do in their lives. In America’s bill of rights states that everyone has the right to say what they want to say, believe what religion they want, and express themselves freely. The Bill of rights gives the freedom to the people of the United States, not the government. This is an example of how it feels to be an American.

Being an American means to have opportunities that are available to us that others don’t get in other parts of the world. The United States of America is a country that is based on being a free country for citizens to have more freedom than anywhere else. It is one of the only countries that give rights to people of different diversities and genders. To be an American means to have opportunities, rights, and freedom.

Back then, in the 1900’s, it was difficult to find jobs that paid well. As years went on the number of jobs and the number of workers grew. In today's day and age many employed Americans are living good, average lives. Businesses, Americans, and schools are becoming more financially independent each and every year.
