* Give the company its own identity. (John Gamble, 2015)
According to Shaw’s Annual Return from 2013, the company mission statement is as follow:
“Shaw is committed to providing customers with a communications ecosystem characterized by leading technology, networks, content, products and services. As customers demand connectivity and content, Shaw will deliver to them at home, and on the go, with best-in-class wired and Wi-Fi networks.” (Shaw, 2013)
The mission statement above specifies Shaw’s service, which is to provide its customers with a communication ecosystem. Additionally, it gives the description of the ecosystem. This can be very useful for the customers because they can see if the Shaw’s services would support their needs. Although this statement does not specify the customer groups that Shaw serve, it is easy to conclude that the customers are everyone who requires a high quality communications ecosystem. This mission statement also identifies the customers’ demands like connectivity and content, and it explains how Shaw would please them. Furthermore, the statement employs a specific language and gives the company its own identity.
Overall, we find that Shaw’s mission statement is well written. Although it is only two sentences long, it is clear and brief. It shows the company’s direction and can serve well to the both, customers and employees of Shaw. Most of the business’s mission statements are customer-oriented or product
Be sure to include a good Mission Statement that meets the criteria of our author. This is a standalone paragraph that clearly indicates the business in which your company finds itself, and addresses the MARKET that you are addressing. A Mission Statement is market focused and not product-focused.
Mission statements for any organization are today a foundation stone for defining its activities, attitudes and culture. Thus the mission statement influences the organization to a very great extent. Thus the mission statement shows the degree of internalization and the general principles of governance adopted by the institution, and its core values and responsibilities and the area of interest. (Yopp, 2008)
This defines what a company will do to achieve its vision. It may include the company’s functions, goals and philosophies
Vision and mission statements provide information about the organization. They appear in strategic and operational plans. How do you define vision and mission statements? How should they be developed and used?
The mission statement is often publically stated and used by almost every organization today. It helps provide basic guidelines, essentially the core values of a company, and what they aim for. A mission statement gives customers
Life isn’t fair, but we all know that. Instead of the athletes sharing in the revenue they create, it’s just the fat cats who benefit. The NCAA has multiple billions of dollars in revenue every year. but the athletes don't see a pretty penny of that. Lots of people believe that college athletes should not be compensated monetarily. by the means of money. They think that a scholarship is enough compensation for the athlete’s work. However, But what people do not know is that not all athletes get scholarships, and not all scholarships include things like food and clothes. So college athletes should be paid extra money for three reasons: the players put in lots of work, the NCAA makes billions of dollars every year, and the NCAA acts as an employer.
"A good mission statement portrays an organization's unique and lasting reason for being, and energizes stakeholders to follow common goals. It likewise enables a focused allocation of
“Our mission statement is simple: to partner with you and your business as an asset that provides quality, reliable products rather than a liability that creates headaches, tension and division. We pledge to focus on the smallest of details on our end so that we can provide to you a product and service that will allow you to focus on your own smallest of details.”
Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, the evidence shows that Lady Macbeth compelled Macbeth to murder King Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame as Macbeth. The facts of the case are, Macbeth killed Duncan by his own hand, but he hired assassins to commit the murders of Banquo and Fleance. At the beginning of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s marriage the people can see they act as equals, one does not outrank the other. As time progresses her true colors start to seep through onto the surface. Lady Macbeth portrayed herself as power-hungry, she will do anything and everything to deem the family name as dominant and successful.
Organizing the direction of a business or corporation is essential because it can increase profitability and provide broad guidelines for how to accomplish the organization goals. This is where a mission statement becomes useful. A mission statement should be short, concise, and to the point. Employees should be able to remember it and make it part of their everyday work culture.
A mission statement is a “formal summary of the aims and values of a company, organization or individual.” (Oxford) Mission statements are important in business because it can be used to determine a company's short and long-term goals. Intelligent business owners use mission statements to remind its employees why the company exists and how the company will be or continue to be successful. Dunkin Donuts’ mission and vision statement is simple. It is “to deliver high quality food and beverages quickly, affordably and conveniently in a welcoming environment.” Dunkin Donuts being a fast food chain, has been relied on by its customers to provide coffee and breakfast at a fast pace. This is how each individual Dunkin Donuts gains and keeps customers. When the staff are all on the same page, the business runs smoothly, and customers remain happy, resulting in repeat customers. Word travels fast and so does the coffee, with that in mind. Keeping customers happy and meeting their needs will keep this business striving.
Ideally, a good mission statement also provides information regarding the organization’s overall management philosophy, its business model, its technical and social competencies, and its values and beliefs (Aguinis, 2009; Azaddin, 2011; Bart & Hupfer, 2004; Covin, Slevin, & Schultz, 1994). Moreover, to make mission statements of large companies more individually relevant, Azaddin (2011) advocates flexible “guiding statements” that account for the “context, culture, structure, and needs of an organization” (p. 31). Thus, a mission statement must be meaningful and applicable to all stakeholders for strategic decision-making to be effective.
A mission statement describes the objective of a company or an organization. It shortly defines the overall goal and clarifies why the company exists (Griffin,1990). A mission statement should indicate some core points..
It is meant to state in the clearest way possible what everyone job is when serving the clientele. It keeps the employee on tract and motivated to do their job as best as possible. This is important when an ethical issue arises. The mission statement will help guide a person to making an ethical decision based on the organizations goals and philosophies.
The mission statement communicates to stakeholders the main activities that the company focuses on in order for it to achieve its vision. The mission statement communicates to employees’ information on how to conduct their day to day activities. The mission statements also describe the organizations, policies, culture as well as ethics (Alesia 2013).
